Crocheted Koopa / Mario


Materials Shell Miniature
-Lion Brand Cotton-Ease (Red/
Green/Blue, Black, White, Sand)
-Size US-G/4.00 mm Crochet Hook
-Needle to sew in ends
-Small amount of stuffing

Abbreviations
-Sc : Single Crochet
-Dec/Inc : Decrease/Increase
-BLO : Back loop only
-St : Stitch or stitches
-Bo : Bobble Stitch (Dc 4 together)

Gauge : 5 Rnds and 4 stitches per 1”

Finished piece is about 2”

Note: This pattern requires a lot of color changes. Be sure to check the end of
each Rnd before continuing through the round to know when to change colors.
Be sure 
 to carry colors required for each round along with you before you need
to do a color change. For more detailed instructions on how to do this visit:

For color changes with color/color (ex: 1 sand/red), pull through the first with
the first color (sand), and next with the second color (red). [See diagram below]

Starting in color A (Red, Green, or Blue)

Main
Ch 2
Rnd 1: sc 6 in 2nd ch from the hook (6)

Rnd 2: sc 2 (inc) in each st (12)

Rnd 3: sc in each st around (12)

Rnd 4: sc in next st, inc in next st, Repeat 6 times (18)


[4 color A, 2 black, 7 color A, 2 black, 3 color A]

Working in back loops for red sts, and both for black
Rnd 5: sc one in first, dec in next, Repeat 6 times (12) [all black]

Rnd 6: Rnd 6: dec in each (6) [all black

Cut, stuff and sew together



Bottom and Border
Bottom (in sand)
Ch 2
Rnd 1: sc 6 in 2nd ch from the hook (6)

Rnd 2: sc 2 (inc) in each st (12)

Rnd 3: sc in next st, inc in next st, Repeat 6 times (18)

Cut, sew end in

Border (in white)


Ch 19
Cut and pull through, leaving a long end

Sew the border around the outside of the shell,

Wings and
through the back loops of the ch, front loops from Rnd
4 on the main, and back loops of the bottom.

Spikes
Spikes (in white) (make 7)
Ch 2
Rnd 1: sc in 2nd ch from the hook (1)
Cut and pull through, Pinch to make more of a point.

Wings (in white) (make 2)


Ch 5
Rnd 1: [Link] in 2nd ch from the hook, sc in next ch, ch 1, sc
in next ch, ch 1, sc in same ch as last sc, sc in last ch (5)
Cut and pull through, sew on sides of the shell.
