Project Work Guidelines for DE (Law Pr. ident
troduction
Project work is an integral part of the Distance Education Master Degree/LLM, Programs at National
Law University, Jodhpur. The main object of the Project Work is to facilitate a student to examine (i) a
‘Theme of contemporary relevance with in-depth study and (ii) issues of vital concern with inter-
disciplinary or analytical approach.
‘The guidelines for undertaking Project Work are given hereunder:
1. Approval of the topic for the Project Work.
‘The broad area/topic of the Project Work shall be chosen by the student from the list of topics approved
‘and notified by the Distance Education Board (Law).
After identification of the topic, a student should identify literature/data in order to know what work
has already been done. The same shall be incorporated in the ‘Bibliography’ column.
‘Submission of the Project Work:-
In view of different formats being used for writing a Project report, following guidelines are
recommended to evolve uniformity:
Cover Page: It must contain the Program Name/Course Name, title of the Project, Enrollment No. of the
Student, Semester/Year, name of the National Law University, Jodhpur-Distance Education Program,
date/month and year of submission as in the same format as provided along with this Guideline.
‘+ The completed Project Work shall be submitted to the Controller of Examination, National
Law University, NH-65, Nagaur Road, Mandore, Jodhpur (Raj,) on or before the notified
date;
© The Project Work shall include a certificate of self-undertaking from the student that the
Project Work was carried out by the student on one’s own efforts during the course of the
semester study;‘The Project Work in each course may be within a limit of 6,000 to 7500 words (20 to 30
pages);
In the submission of the Project Work, the student shall confirm to the guidelines provided
for footnoting as provided in Annexure-"A”;
The Project Work will be evaluated on the basis of the written script;
The student shall use “Verdana” “12” size font;
Line-spacing in the Script should be ‘1’ with 1.5 margin on the left/right/top/bottom;
The Project work shall contain (a) ‘Index of Contents’, (b) ‘Table of cases’ (if included), and at
the end of the work, (c) ‘List of Bibliography’ followed in order to carry-out the Project
Work;
It is strongly advised that the students shall not resort to any efforts of copying or
incorporation of contents verbatim from any sources being referred to. Efforts of plagiarism
in any form will be dealt strictly in accordance with the Examination Rules of the University
and may even disentitle the project work from being examined;
The Project work will be evaluated on the scale of 100 marks and be reduced to the
weightage of 30%.
