IMPLEMENTATION OF THE SPECIAL PROGRAM IN THE ARTS (SPA) THEATER

SY: 2018-2019

NARRATIVE REPORT

The role of the school is to develop the students not only academically but also
physically, morally, and spiritually. It must initiate different activities to develop them
holistically.

The Special Program in the Arts (SPA) was made by the Department of
Education to give talented students a chance to enhance their talents in different fields.
There are five fields in the SPA: Creative Writing (English and Filipino), Visual Arts,
Theater Arts, Music and Dance. The Nasipit National Vocational School supported this
program and initiated moves in order to help students develop their potentials in
dancing, singing, interpretation and other skills and talents in the school year 2018-
2019.

There were 10 students who qualified and enrolled in this class. Within the year,
they demonstrated appreciation and understanding of the basic language of the creative
arts, focused on theater arts as an integrated language of personal group, and cultural
expression and creativity in stories, ritual, myth, and cultural enactments for the release
of creativity, and awareness of self and cultural identity, and sense of responsibility.
Each performance incorporated sensitive interaction with Filipino indigenous heritage,
values of human and social development, and mobilization of skills for a career in the
arts.

The SPA Theater had its culmination last March 15, 2019 at SPA Classroom
(Sterling), Nasipit National Vocational School. The program included the presentation of
Filipino dramas originally created by artist. It served as the finale of all their practices
and performances. Their Performance Tasks for the Fourth Quarter rating is based on
their performances on the planned program.

From these, they gained self-confidence and good poise. They also learned how
to mingle with peers and other group of people at work and at play.
