Question tags are short questions added to the end of statements to ask for information or approval. They are an important part of daily conversation for native English speakers. The question tag is grammatically adjusted based on the statement that precedes it. If the statement uses a form of "to be", the question tag also uses "to be". QUESTION TAGS

Question tags are short questions added at the end of a statemen toask for information or ask
for approval like idioms (English expresions), questions tags are a part that is often used in the
daily conversation of a native speaker although grammar,pronunciation ,and intonation are
good,one can easily be recognized not as a native speaker if one does not use question tags .

RUMUS QUESTION TAGS


Question tag : lingking verb “be”/auxiliary verb +/- not +pronoun.

The question tag is adjusted to the statement that praceded it when the sentence statemen
uses the lingking verb “be”(is,am,are,was,were) then the question tag also use be if the
statement uses the primary auxiliary verb (will,would,may, may, might,might,could,shall,should)
then the question tag uses the firs auxiliary verb (if there are more than one) whereas when the
statement uses the main verb statement other than the lingking verb “be” and without the
accompanying auxiliary verb ,the dummy auxiliary verb do\does\did is used in the question tag.

DECLARATIVE SENTENCE QUESTION TAG


Lingking verb “be”. Idem
Primary auxiliary verb (be,clo,have) or modal Idem
auxiliary verb (will, would, may ,may ,
might ,can ,cauld, shall, should).
Verb selain lingking verb “ be” Dummy auxiliary verb( do,does,did)
(eat,learm,move,otc).

Pronoun adjusted to the subject in the statement (antecedent ),in term of number (singular
plural), person (first person ,second person,third person ,and gender (female,male ,natural).
