THE ART OF MARKETING COMMUNICATION

AREAS OF DEVELOPMENT

The three areas chosen to start working at the start of the art of marketing communications
course we’re stage fear, communication skills and reducing laziness. Stage fear is felt most
important thing to work on and with participating and engaging in the storytelling workshop
became the first step in overcoming it. The insights from this workshop made presentations more
interesting and brought eagerness to be on the stage. The time spent on the stage during the
presentation has been increased which brings in more confidence. The second area is the
communication skills; initially it was difficult to deliver the message to the audience during a
conversation or presentation, but now with inputs from peers and others help now I can able to
sync with the thoughts in mind and it makes easier to deliver the message to the audience.
Constant group discussion and personal interview sessions during this whole term were also an
important factor in improving the communication as well as the listening skills. The third area is
reducing laziness; this is an area which felt to need constant improvement by bringing changes
in the routine. As a first step it started with reading at least ten minutes for news and finishing
the work within the allocated time. Working as team in the course urged the need to be on time
as other teammates will be left behind because of a single person's mistake. The beginning of the
placement season also proved the importance for working towards the improvement of these
area.
