Charly Warlow
In order to be a three sport athlete, one must be disciplined, focused, a learner, and an
achiever. I have a very disciplined personality and I enjoy routine and structure. As a student, I
take pride in getting my work done, and meeting deadlines. Throughout high school I have
always turned my assignments in on time and I routinely worked at home in order to maintain a
nearly flawless academic record. My focus, drive, and attention to detail are arguably my
greatest academic strengths. Learning comes easy to me, but above all, I enjoy the process of
learning. Experiencing growth and success in the classroom is a lot like experiencing a win in
athletics. I pride myself in being an achiever in the classroom and on the athletic field.
I have been an athlete for as long as I can remember. I not only enjoy being a part of a
team but I enjoy each game, practice, and competition that goes along with it. Being an athlete
has taught me the value of preparation, integrity, discipline, and has shaped me to be the
individual that I am today. Statistics have shown that athletics and business success have a direct
correlation with each other. Many successful women in the business industry first found success
in athletics. One major lesson being an athlete has taught me is that success doesn’t come easy,
you have to work hard. Nothing feels better than winning a game and celebrating with your
teammates, especially after hours of grueling practices and endless sets of conditioning. Athletics
has given me the skills to be disciplined, focused, and dedicated in everything that I do. I take
great satisfaction in being a successful athlete and staying focused on my school work. Doing so
allows me to stay eligible on the field, as well as setting a positive example for my teammates.
Being involved in three sports has not only kept me busy for four years of high school but it has
also taught me very valuable lessons.
I have taken all of the business and accounting classes that my high school has to offer
and nothing interests me as much as these courses have. Aside from taking all of the business
classes I have enjoyed my math classes, to some extent. Being an accountant requires someone
who is organized, detail oriented, and thorough. Accounting is not a job for everyone. Since I am
an achiever and a disciplined person, I think that accounting is the natural and best place for me
to succeed as an individual.
My junior year of high school, I was given the opportunity to do the books for my
grandpa’s business. My grandparents run a small shaved ice business. I have always worked for
them, and my grandpa told me that I could set up his books for accounting. This meant that I
calculated his income, expenses, and then I found his total profit for the year. This was a great
experience for me to get a good feel for what accounting is going to be like. After being able to
do this I realized that accounting was something I had a real passion for and want to continue
that in college.
In addition to having a unique personality and the drive to get things done to the best of
my ability, I have been an active and involved student the last four years at Le Roy High School.
I was a three sport athlete, participating in golf, basketball and softball. While juggling practices
and games I also maintained above a 4.0 GPA. Being a student athlete was something that I
valued. Not only did I want to excel on the field but I also wanted to be the best I could be in the

classroom. I went on many mission trips with my church group; as well as participating in Key
Club and Student Council. I take satisfaction in being a competitive athlete, but also in being an
involved student and member of my community.
I hope to further my education at a four year university, majoring in accounting.
Throughout my high school years, I have learned a lot by being an athlete, and by being a part of
a team. I plan on using my focused and disciplined personality to excel in my career. In the fall
of 2020 I hope to attend a four year university with hopes of pursuing my education in
accounting.
