Reflection on Personal Recollection

For a teenager just entering adulthood, the author is unsure of their goals and finds studying medical biology intimidating. Failure led to weaker motivation but an epiphany reminded the author that God is testing their character and purpose. While the future is unknown, the author believes following God's plan through perseverance will lead to answers. A Bible verse about God knowing and caring for individuals by name encouraged the author during a time of low confidence in their studies.

Recollection Reflection Paper

For a teenager that just got into the gates of adulthood, I am still unsure of my goals for the
future. It is a little scary sometimes, because I do not know what I am getting into. This feeling just got
more intense when I started studying Medical Biology. As my workload increased, my confidence in
myself got weaker. Failure after failure, my motivation got weaker, but one day I had an epiphany. This is
just the beginning of my trial from God to know my true value and purpose. As a limited being, it is
almost impossible for me to know what my future holds. I don't know what plans God has in store for me
but with my faith in Him, I know that I will arrive to the answer. I will believe in His plans for me and to
achieve this I will have to do my part and do my best.
“I have called you by Name. You are mine. You are precious in my eyes” (Isaiah 43: 1,4). These
words struck me, because this indicates that I am special to God. It also moves me to know that of all the
millions of children He has, He knows all of our names. I believe that it was just not coincidence that that
was mentioned in our recollection. I believe that He was trying to reach out to me because at that time I
was feeling unconfident of myself because of my studies. That gave me confidence because of the
knowledge that someone cares for me.
