Chapter 4
Results and Discussion
This chapter presents the data collected from the experiment done to the
prototype. It also shows the analysis to prove the effectiveness of the project.
4.1 Apparatus and Equipment
Performing the experiments needed requires various equipment and apparatus.
The following are listed below with their usage:
Equipment/Apparatus Illustration Use

Portland
Cement,water and Cement Mixture
sand
Tape measure,Timer Measuring
and Weighing Scale Devices
4.2 Experiment
After the fabrication of the prototype, experiments were done to test it for effectivity
and efficiency. The experiment is done on the back of the UE Caloocan Engineering
building. In Which where we measure the amount of time to mix a certain amount of
cement mixture, the rotation of the blade which connects from the pedal. The procedure
for each experiment is stipulated hereunder:
4.2.1 Experiment 1 – Rotation of Sprockets and the Blades
Concerning the Rotation of the Sprockets and the blades, the experiment were
done in order to:
- Determine the Ratio of the relation between the Pedal and the Sprockets with
the blade.
- Determine the number of rotation of the blade needed in order to mix cement
mixture properly.
The Connection of the Sprockets and The blades is through the chain in sprockets
and shafts and Differential with the blade. The output rotation of the sprockets and the
blades is through the gear ratio of the smaller sprocket with the bigger sprocket in which
the bigger sprocket is connected through the blade which is the same rotation as the
bigger sprocket. The formula of the rotation is illustrated below in equation 4.1.
Ratio= SB/Ss eq. 4.1
SB= Rotation of Bigger Sprocket= Blade Rotation
Ss= Rotation of Smaller Sprocket
Sb=24
Ss=12
R=21/12
R=2
Data 4.1
Smaller Sprocket Bigger Sprocket
/Pedal Rotation /Blade Rotation
Rotation per minute 60 30
Rotation per cycle 510 255
1 Cycle is when the mixture has been completely mix and ready for usage.
Speed of the Smaller Sprocket/ Pedal Rotation = 60/minute
Speed of Bigger Sprocket/ Blade Rotation =30/minute
Hypothesis: It took 8 minutes and 30 seconds for the mixture to be completely mix and in
a cycle.
4.2.2 Experiment 2 – Determining the amount of volume that can be produce
As it is indicated in the description, the amount of volume that it can produce by
the prototype in one run will be tested to its capability through qualitative
observations. The ratio of the sand,water and Portland cement is
2Rs:1Rw:1Rc
Rs= Ratio of sand
Rw= Ratio of water
Rc= Ratio of Portland cement
Data 4.2
Amount of Amount of Amount of Total
sand (Kg) water(L) Portland
1L=1Kg Cement (Kg)
Before 22.5 11.25 11.25 45
Mixing
After Mixing 43.5Kg 43.5Kg
Hypothesis: There are waste materials that did not use due to some mixture will
stick to the mixing drum or the blade and some will splash out of the mixing drum.
