STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR Closed Circulating water Pump

OBJECTIVE: For Smooth Operation of Closed Circulating Water Pump.

SCOPE: This SOP is applicable for two CCCW pump.

INTRODUCTION: CCCW Pump is supply cooling water for CEP Bearing cooling, TDBFP DE &
NDE Bearing Mech. seal, MDBFP DE & NDE Bearing Mech. Seal, EH oil cooler, HVAC make-up, APH
bearing cooling water, Boiler manhole cooling water, BCP LP cooling water, BCP flush cooling
water, Sample cooler. It cooled through PHE by OCCW water. CCCW water make up will comes from
DM water ,through CCCW overhead tank at dearator floor

Ensure minimum auxiliaries coolers are to be charged for

6 sufficient flow through pump as there is no recirculation valve

7 Check inlet rotating strainer is running normal

8 Ensure air venting of pump, and other piping is done.

9 Rack-in the breaker & put it in remote position.

10 Release the local Stop Push button (EPB).

11 Start the Pump, Discharge Valve should open automatically

Open Inlet MOV of other pump, put the other pump stand- by,
12 outlet valve will open automatically.

As per the requirement charge cooling system of individual

13 auxiliaries.

14 Close all line & pump air vents.

7 Open air vents in pump, and all other piping.

SHUTDOWN SEQUENCE:
1. PLANNED SHUTDOWN : (STOPPING OF CCCW Pump)

stopped and no DM water for cooling is required.

2 Release the standby Pump interlocks √

3 Check if the Pump is not rotating reversal √

4 Stop the last running Pump. √ √
5 Close the outlet valve of the running pump. √ √
2. Emergency operation Of CCCWP

1 It is necessary to shutdown the water pump for emergency.

Cases:-
a) Vibration in pump set and friction sound. √
b) Motor have smoke
c) Bearing temperature high.
d) Pump gland leakage.
2 Outlet MOV not open after run for 15 sec. √

Emergency shutdown

1 stop the pump. √

2 Release the interlocking switch of faulted pumps and the operating pump √
should be normal. √

3 Report to the shift incharge and work order raised for correcting the fault , √
put it into standby after correcting fault. √
