Medical Devices
According to Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesian Number 116 / SK / 79,
medical devices can be classified into:
1. preparations for maintenance and health care
2. Pesticides and insecticides pests pembasi humans and pets
3. beauty tool used in beauty salon
4. of plastic and glass containers for medicine and injection, infusion bottle cap

A. Tools for treatment
The tools used to care either at home or in a hospital can be grouped into:
1. Tools Bandages
a. Plaster
Function: to cover the wound include adhesive.
2. Verband (Pads)
Verband classified into several sections, namely:
Kasa hydrophilic (Gauze Bandage) for a long gauze bandage.
Elastic Bandages (Elastic Bandage)
Bandages Neck, to prop up the head and limit the movement of the cervical vertebrae
The cast Bandages, gauze wrapped include calcium after soaked in warm water to be
hardened for patients with fractures.
2. Patient Care Equipment
a. Ice Bag (Ing.) Eskap (Ind.)
Shape: the form of a rubber bag with a lid in the middle, filled with shards of ice cubes
Function: for cold compresses.
b. Breast Pump and relieve (Ing.) Pump Milk (Ind.)
Function: to help pump water out of the breast milk of women who are breastfeeding.
c. Nipple Shield (Ing.) Putting Protective Milk
Function: to protect sore nipples during breastfeeding so that the baby can suck milk past
the signboard.
e. Air cusion (Ing.)
Form: a tool made of rubber shaped like a circle of car tires, 13.5 cm in diameter in the
outer 40 cm
Function: as seating in patients with hemorrhoids / piles.
f. colostomy Bag
Function: to hold stool in patients after colon surgery (surgery artificial intestine through
the abdominal muscles and skin).
g. urinal
Function: to hold urine in patients who should not / could go to the toilet.

Urinal male: for male patients
Urinal female: for female patients
h. bedpan
Function: to hold stool in patients who should not / could go to the toilet.
i. Pus basin / basin Emesis
Function: to hold the vomit, pus, a former cotton etc.
j. Instrument Tray
Function: a place to store equipment maintenance.

a. Gloves
Function: to protect the hands from the influence of the surrounding environment.

Function: for issuing / taking urine

Function: as an extension of the vein for intravenous fluids or intravenous drugs in the
long term.

Function: hose for intravenous fluids

Function: for giving blood transfusions
j. Syringe / Syringe
Function: to inoculate

2. Scissor
Scissors is a tool for cutting. The types of scissors include:
a. Bandage Scissors
Function: cutting verband or gauze
b. dissecting Scissors
Functions: scissors to cut the tissue for practice purposes.
3. forceps
Forceps is a device consisting of two pieces facing each other which can be controlled
(clipped and removed) are used to clamp or hold objects.
a. Thumb Forceps or dissecting Forceps
Characteristics: the inside of both ends of horizontal stripes.
b. Surgical Forceps or Tissue Forceps
Characteristics: piset both toothed tip.
c. Suture Clip Applying Forceps Tweezers ataut Agrave
Function: to clip the clip on the wound so that the wound was not open.
d. Clamp
Clamps or Clamp is a tool to clamp (holding and pressing) of an object.
The types of clamps, among others:
a) Artery Forceps
Artery clamp handle classified tools like scissors with hooks.
Function: to clamp the arteries.
Artery clamp can be classified into two parts
Kocher: scalloped edges
Pean: not-toothed edges
b) peritoneum forceps
Function: to clamp the tissue lining of the stomach.
4. Needle Holders (Ing.)
Function: to clamp the sewing needle (hechtnaald) and stitch open wounds such as
surgical wounds or accident.
5. Surgical Suture Needles Needles or Needle sewing
Function: needles for suturing
6. Suture / Yarn Surgery
Suture can be divided into two groups, namely:
a. Which can be absorbed by body tissue.
According to the material consists of:
Collagen is derived from intestinal tissue of cattle, goat sub mucosa, intestinal cats.
Until now called catgut (cat gut)
Catgut can be divided into two parts:
- Plain catgut
- Chromic catgut
