Define the Problem (Opportunity)


Describe the problem as accurately and realistically as possible - what, where, when, how often,
with whom, why…

As you define the problem and find there is more than one problem, start additional
worksheets for each problem.

Generate Alternatives
Brainstorm to generate as many alternative approaches and solutions as possible (don’t evaluate,
just come up with them!). It is helpful at this step to involve others to widen the perspective.

On a separate sheet of paper, gather information relevant to each alternative.

Select the best options recognizing the risk involved.
