Distance Measurement by Pacing
Exercise No. 2
Name: Cabato Efren P. Score:
Laboratory Schedule: TTH (7-10) Date Submitted: June 5, 2018
Group No. 2
I. Introduction
Pacing is a method of measuring distance in the field using someone’s steps. It
is use to estimate the distance of a plane or sloping ground in the field using a pace
count with a relative precision. The best way to measure a ground distance is by
pace count.
II. Objectives:
a. Define pacing
b. Determine or estimate the length of a spaced or walk line
c. Solve problems related to pacing
III. Instruments and Accessories:
a. Crayon or chalk
IV. Procedure:
Procedure is already discus so we know how to performed in the site.
Table 1: level ground
Trial Line # OF PACES MEAN # OF LENTH OF
PACES LINE (AB)
1 AB 127
2 BA 127.25
3 AB 128 127.50 85.425m/p
4 BA 127.75
5 AB 127.50
Sol’n : PD = PF x mean # of pace
= 127.50 x 0.67
= 85.425 m/p
Table 2: Uneven ground
TRIAL LINE # OF PACES MEAN # OF PACES LENTH OF LINE
(AB)
1 AB 60.25
2 BA 60
3 AB 60.25 60.45 m 41.71 m/p
4 BA 61
5 AB 60.50
Sol’n: PD = PF x mean # of paces
= 60.45 x 0.69
= 41.71 m/p
V. Results and Discussion:
. The is above shown the pace distance of the slope ground is bigger than that to
its tape distance compered to the pace distance of the leveled ground. I’ve
observed that waking uphill increase the number of paces than of a leveled ground,
so it can be infer that waking uphill is one of the certain condition affect to your
pace count in the field.
