Hydroponic Technology Overview

Hydroponic technology involves growing plants without soil by instead supplying them with nutrient solutions in a water solvent. There are several types of hydroponic growing systems like aeroponics, drip systems, ebb and flow, nutrient film technique, and wick systems. The pros of hydroponics include producing high quality food, conserving water and energy, being pesticide-free, offering more control, and reducing labor time. However, the cons are that hydroponics may not be applicable for all situations, can spread waterborne diseases, is affected by power outages, has high initial costs, and requires maintenance.
