Inductive Lesson Plan: Photosynthesis

The lesson plan outlines activities to teach 7th grade students about photosynthesis. The plan includes 4 hands-on activities where students will: 1) observe leaf placement and photosynthesis; 2) see oxygen bubbles released from a leaf in water; 3) compare plant growth with and without leaves; and 4) test for starch production with and without sunlight. The activities are designed to help students understand that photosynthesis requires sunlight, chlorophyll, and leaves, and produces oxygen and carbohydrates as products.

Inductive thinking model based Lesson Plan

Pupil Teacher Roll No.: 16 Date : 28 January 2019

Class: 7th Subject : Life Sciences

Duration : 45 minutes Topic : Photosynthesis

General Objectives
After the completion of the topic ,students will be able to:

● acquire knowledge about the essential requirements for photosynthesis.

● understand the process of photosynthesis.
● develop understanding about the products of photosynthesis
● acquire understanding about the autotrophic plants.
● develop the skills of observation and experimentation.

Specific Objectives
▪ define the term photosynthesis
▪ describe the process of photosynthesis.
▪ experiment to show process of photosynthesis.
▪ explain the essential requirements for the process of photosynthesis.
▪ give the products of photosynthesis.

Instructional Aids
1) Blackboard. duster, Coloured chalks

2)Green leafy plants, construction papers, clips, bowl of water

Previous knowledge assumed
Pupil teacher will assume that students have the basic knowledge about the basic requirements for the
survival of living organisms including plants.

Previous knowledge testing

Pupil teacher will ask the following questions to students to test the previous knowledge of students.

Question 1 - What are the essential requirements for the survival of living organisms?

Expected answer - Food and Oxygen

Question 2- From where do we get food ?

Expected answer- From plants

Question 3- What are the basic requirements for the growth of the plants ?

Expected Answer - Water, minerals, sunlight..etc

Question 4- How do plants make the food?

Expected Answer - No answer

Announcement of the topic

The pupil teacher will announce the topic that plants make their food through the process called as
Photosynthesis.

Let us study Photosynthesis and the requirements as well as the products of photosynthesis.
