Postpartum Hemorrhage Risk Factors Study

Bleeding during and after childbirth (postpartum hemorrhage) is a leading cause of maternal mortality, responsible for over a quarter of deaths globally. Risk factors that increase the risk of postpartum hemorrhage include advanced age, high parity, short birth spacing, anemia, high or low BMI, high birth weight, preeclampsia, and labor induction. This study aimed to determine indirect causes associated with postpartum hemorrhage incidence at RSUD Wonosari Gunungkidul Hospital in 2017. The study found that age, anemia, BMI, preeclampsia, and labor induction were indirect causes associated with increased risk of postpartum hemorrhage.

Background: Bleeding (Hemorrhage) is the main cause of maternal death (maternal mortality),

accounting for (iki opo buls?? terhitung dari? there is no such a word wkwk) according to .........
there is more than a quarter of deaths due to hemorrhage in global distribution. Of the total cases,
the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage is the highest cause (Postpartum hemorrhage out of total
cases caused maternal mortality the most). Risk factors that increase the incidence of postpartum
hemorrhage are age, parity, birth distance, anemia, BMI, birth weight, preeclampsia, and labor
induction.

Research Objectives: This study aimed to determine the indirect causes of .......??? associated with
the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage in RSUD Wonosari Gunungkidul 2017.

Research Method: This study used a cross-sectional design. The population of this study were
postpartum mothers who received treatment in RSUD Wonosari Gunungkidul 2017. Sampling was
done using purposive sampling technique.

Research Results: The statistical test results showed the p-value of each variable were age (0.002),
parity (0.175), birth distance (0.088), anemia (0.001), BMI (0,000), birth weight (0.397), preeclampsia
(0.004) and labor induction (0,000).

Conclusion: The indirect causes of......? associated with postpartum hemorrhage were age, anemia,
BMI, preeclampsia, and labor induction.
