Overview
World Environment Day is the United Nations day for
encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our
environment.
Since it began in 1974, the event has grown to become a global
platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100
countries.
Above all, World Environment Day is the "people's day" for doing
something to take care of the Earth. That "something" can be
local, national or global. It can be a solo action or involve a
crowd. Everyone is free to choose.
UNs Theme Of The Year
Each World Environment Day is organized around a theme
that draws attention to a particularly pressing
environmental concern.
The theme for 2019 is
“Air pollution”.
In recent years, millions of people have taken part in
thousands of registered activities worldwide.
Here’s to Supporting The Campaign through
Volunteer For Action.
What Can We Do?
We are faced with an urgent task. Nine out of ten people
worldwide are exposed to levels of air pollutants that exceed
World Health Organization safe levels. Around seven million
people worldwide die prematurely each year from air pollution
Together we can
with about four million of these deaths occurring in Asia-Pacific.
Air pollution causes a host of other problems, including illness and
lower IQs. It doesn’t just impact human health and economic
growth. Many of the pollutants also cause global warming.
Air pollution is preventable, but we need everyone on board –
#BeatAirPollution
from individuals and organizations to private companies and
governments.
This year’s World Environment Day provides an opportunity for
each of us to combat air pollution around the world. Let’s show
the world that the time to act is now.

Very Important; Learn how to Report your Task
- Create a separate folder for your Volunteer For Action Journey in your google drive & name it like V4A2019_YourName
- In it, Create a new reporting folder for each Task & name it like V4ATaskNo._YourName
- Upload the action data (screenshots, documents etc. as guided in each Task To Dos ) of each task in its reporting folder & keep it organised
throughout the journey. In this way you will be able to record the learnings & experiences of your journey & will learn one of the most significant skill of
time i.e. data management.

your contribution time & again as per each assigned task.
