Aircraft Performance
Coordinated Turn
1. For the small jet transport described in Problem 1 (Tutorial Sheet No. 4 (Part 2)), and
for maximum gross weight at both the sea level and 9 km, compute the following
performance parameters
a) Maneuvering speed
b) The minimum turning radius
c) Maximum turning rate
Assume a maximum lift coefficient of 1.2 and a positive load factor of 4.0
2. For human-powered airplane described in Problem 2 (Tutorial Sheet No. 4 (Part 1)),
and for maximum gross weight at sea level compute
a) Maneuvering speed
b) The minimum turning radius
c) Maximum turning rate
Assume a maximum lift coefficient of 1.2 and a positive load factor of 1.1
3. The human-powered airplane described in Problem 2 (Tutorial Sheet No. 4 (Part 1)) is
flying at airspeed equal to the minimum power airspeed for straight and level flight. For
this airspeed and at sea level, compute
a) Minimum power airspeed
b) The minimum turning radius
c) Maximum bank angle.
