The principle point of the current year's Numeracy Week was to have our students learn maths
through games in order to apply their insight in regular daily existence circumstances. To achieve
this aim, our school has done several activities. The first one consisted in having the 1st grade
students, organised in 3 teams, working on some mathematical concert 0-10. 10-20. 20-30. Each
concert has even and odd numbers. The fir trees are cut out and they are garnished with globes yellow
ones for the even numbers and pink ones for the odd numbers. A second activity took place during
winter. The 2nd students grade class was divided into small teams, each member receiving cards,
some containing globules with mathematical tasks that worked individually and verified within the
team, others with the image of gifts. Each gift has a sentence that has to be completed with the correct
punctuation mark. The globules were decorated, cropped and embroidered, adorned, and under the
fir tree there were only those gifts whose sentence indicated action specific to the season. A poster
of the fir tree was then made. The 3rd activity was organised in 3 days as follows. On the first day the
students received" False or False "cards with multiplications of snowflakes that they have solved and
just coloured the flags with the correct multiplications. The activity continued with the solving of the
card: "The mathematical Christmas mosaic" the multiplications have been resolved and colour coded
to get Christmas-specific images. “mathematical didactic game, "The Magic of Mathematics",
through which the students formed natural numbers according to certain requirements, then extracted
a challenge and solved the requirements. Students who have encountered problems have received
fun punishments. On the third day the students played the game "Square of Multiplies". The game
took place in pairs, each pair having a game board with numbers representing the result of multiplies,
two dice and crayons of different colours. Each student gave the dice and solved the multiplication
of the two numbers indicated by the dice faces, after which he had the right to draw a line around the
result obtained, when a square was formed around the number could stain the entire square. The
student with the most coloured squares has won the game.
