Compressive Strength Test Report

This lab report summarizes a test to determine the compressive strength of concrete samples. The test involved molding fresh concrete into cylinders, curing the samples for 7, 14, and 28 days, and then placing them in a compression testing machine. The highest strength was 2896 psi for a sample on its 16th day. Compressive strength testing determines the quality of concrete to resist compressional loads.

COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH TEST
Objective: To determine the strength of the concrete on a compressional load applied

Materials:

 Cylindrical Mold
 Fresh Concrete
 Used oil
 Tamping Rod
 Water

Procedures:

1. After the fresh concrete passed on the slump test, mold it on a cylindrical mold.
2. Leave the concrete for about 24 hours.
3. After 24 hours, remove the concrete from the mold.
4. Submerge the concrete on the water for curing.
5. Remove from the water each cylindrical sample every 7 days, 14 days, and 28
days.
6. Test for compressive strength of each cylindrical sample every 7 days, 14 days,
and 28 days.
7. Determine the compressive strength of each cylindrical sample.

Results:

It takes place after the slump test. Testing happened after 7 days, 14 days, and
28 days after the concrete is cured.

Due to schedule purposes, our concrete testing started after the late 9 days, 16
days, and 30 days. Among the 3 cylindrical concrete, our group work which is sample
2A got the highest ultimate load of 129.56 lb. and ultimate strength of 2318 psi. On its
16th day, sample 2B gained strongest load of 161.9 lb. and strength of 2896 psi. While
after 30 days, our concrete cylinder, sample 2C, ranked second having 143.21 lb. as
load and 2562 psi as ultimate strength.

The first test broke by CS Type Fracture and the remaining test deteriorated by S
Fracture.

Conclusion:

Compressive strength test is a test in determining the strength of the concrete on

a compressional load applied. The compressive strength is measured by breaking the
cylindrical concrete specimens in a compression-testing machine. Through compressive
strength test, the appropriate quality of concrete for a structure is determined that can
resist compressive load that applies in real life applications.
