Abstract
This paper is a reflection of my progress thus far on my Professional Development Quest
Portfolio (PDQP). I discuss my goals, frustrations, questions, and my next steps in the
development of my eportfolio.

Goals and Achievements
Creating an eportfolio helps to validate one’s competencies as a teacher. It allows for
the opportunity to showcase how someone has developed as a teacher by including specific
examples of how they apply the Teacher Performance Expectations within their classroom.
This can be challenging and rewarding for the educator. Identifying the appropriate, high-
quality artifacts and compiling it into an orderly fashion can be quite cumbersome. “The key
is to make sure that you have a neat and well-organized portfolio with evidence of substance
and insightful reflections” (Constantino & De Lorenzo, 2009). I feel that I have
accomplished this throughout the development of my eportfolio.
I think that my eportfolio looks neat and pleasing to the eye. I also think that I have
incorporated well thought out artifacts. When artifacts are being selected, it is important to
make sure they align with the purpose of the portfolio and support a performance standard.
“In essence, each document that you create or select should support your competency in
meeting the performance identified in the standard or theme” (Constantino & De Lorenzo,
2009). I am fortunate to have a few pictures of my students to showcase what we have done
in the classroom. I have used various forms of media to liven it up a bit. One of my favorite
artifacts I have chosen is the formative assessment video of my student on flipgrid. I feel like
this is a fun way to show how I incorporate the use of formative assessments while still
supporting technology within the classroom. I also like the professional development page

for Domain F. I feel that the Letter of Recommendation and the 5 year plan showcase my
work ethic as a teacher and how I have developed professionally over the years. At first, I
was really overwhelmed by the amount of work that I knew would go into developing an
eportfolio, but I am happy I have saved quite a bit of my work over the years to be able to
sort through and decide which ones would be the best artifact for each domain. At this point,
I have completed almost all of my domains so I am feeling better about this project.
Frustrations, Questions, Concerns
One of the biggest frustrations I have had thus far is making sure that I am
completing all parts of the eportfolio and not leaving anything out. I felt a little bit
overwhelmed at first. I also wish that I knew about this project beforehand so I could take
more pictures and videos throughout the year to be able to use as artifacts. Since it is now
summer vacation, I will have to wait until the school year begins to incorporate different
forms of media into my portfolio. I will be updating and improving this as the years progress
so I will swap out some of the artifacts at that point. I do not feel that the technology aspect
has been difficult for me. I think using Weebly has been fairly simple and straightforward. I
have a few questions about the Literature Reviews. When reviewing the assignments, it
states “One artifact for each TPE domain must include a supporting literature review.” We
were told that we could choose to use a Literature Review for either Domain C or Domain D
but it was not necessary to have one for both so I am not quite sure how many Literature

Reviews we should have by the time we are finished with our portfolios. I also am a bit
confused on the rationales for our artifact choices. Should there be six rationales, one for
each domain, or are we completing it once a week after we have developed some domains
each week? At this point, I do not feel that I have any significant concerns. After sharing my
website with everyone at our Blackboard Collaborate Session, I feel more confident that I
will end this class with a neat, well-organized portfolio that justifies my effectiveness as an
educator.
Next Steps
My portfolio is not finished at this point so my next step is to finish up Domain E and
write a rationale for my artifacts. When planning for the next school year, I also would like to
be mindful of what are other samples that I can use as an artifact. Moving forward I will try
to document or record different things throughout the year that I can add to my eportfolio.
Adding artifacts to my PDQP will be a good way to show how I grow as a teacher each year.
I also would like to show my employer and my team of teachers so we can discuss the
importance of a portfolio. This would be a great tool to have if I ever want to switch schools
or move out of the area. I also think it could be beneficial to put on my teacher home page to
be able to show parents who might want more information on our school or my teaching
practice. I have learned a lot about myself by doing this culminating project and I look
forward to updating it as the years progress.
