ations given in the Hebraic Bible and Christian Testament,
the trend of tL~ development of the race, along with a clear
and an unmistakable conception of Christ's mission to the

THE SON OF MAN

WHEN the Lord Jes us was here among men he called

himself the "son of MAN." The world has theorized on
these words till they think they mean the "son of God."
What would you think of me if I should say to you, "The
·· son of Peter Williams did so and so," and you should ask
me, "Was it Peter Williams' son?" and I should reply, "Oh,
no, you ought to know [Link] than that, it was John Bl'own's
son." So, when the Lord Jes us asked his disciples and
the people arounJ him, ''Who do men say that I the
son of man am?" They answered, "Some say that thou
art John the Baptist: some, Elias, and others, Jeremias,
or one of the prophets." He asked again, "Who say ye
that I am?''-Peter answered, "Thou art the Christ [an-
ointed one] the Son of the living God [or, God of life]."
Jesus answered Peter, ''Thou art Peter [a rock], and upon
this rock [or, confession, or, doctrine] I will build my
church.'' Why did he give that special emphasis concern-
ing who he was?-To the common people, his external
body was the son of Joseph and Mary. To those who heard
and saw his miracles and great wisdom, this son of Jo-

seph and Mary was a great prophet, a man who had at-
tained to so high an altitude of spiritual consciousness that
it gave him prophetic powers. There were laws and meth-
ods known in his day by which a man could be put thru
certain drills and obtain certain instructions from the
mystic masters which would develop in him the ability to
foresee events, thus making him, by the instrumentality
of these methods, a prophet.
But Jesus was not it sympathy with these methods,
and said of those who thru their use had attained
great know ledge and power, ''All who have come before
me [have climbed up some other way and therefore] are
thieves and robbers." Was not this a very remarkable
statement for the son of MAN to make?-Then why should
he have made such a statement?-The only reason for
such a statement is in the fact that he knew the purpose .
of God in the creation of the world, as exprest in the lan-
guage of Genesis i 26, ''Let us make man in our image
and like us." Now t,h e man produced by certain rigid
rules is not the man in the image and likeness of God, but
is an artificial man.
Jesus the Christ was the only real man made in the
image and J ikeness; in the image and likeness made by
the development and growth of the soul, and he was
therefore called "the only begotten of the Father."*
Now, if you will stop to think reasonably on this subject,
you cannot avoid the conclusion that Jesus claimed noth-
ing more, nothing less, than that he was created in the
image and likeness of the Father, or, was begotten from
above. But, as to the body, he continually referred to it
as the son of man, or, if you please, the E'On of a man
But he called himself the son of man simply because h ~
claimed to be the legitimate offspring of the race of men
in the line of their generations. Therefore it was said
that he came of the tribe of Judah, of the house of David.
I n the "Goal of Life, or Science and Revelation"
this being begotten from above is fully explained.

The Church, and every one who has thought on this sub-
ject, will agree with me thus far, but none of the deaf,
dumb and blind will be willing to take the next step. And
what is the next logical, unquestionable step? The Christ
says, he is the son of man, and the prophet says, "of the
tribe of Judah," and "of the house of David;" and the
Bible even goes so far as to trace the lineage of Joseph
thru the tribe of Judah and the house of David to Abra-
ham. The Church denies the truth of the whole statement
and wipes it all out of existence by the declaration that
Jesus was not the son of man, but the son of God by a
miracle of the Spirit generating in Mary a fleshly body,
regardless of the words of the Master himself, when he
said that flesh could generate flesh only, and that spirit /
could generate spirit only. In the language of the Scrip-
tures, that which is begotten of the fl esh is flesh, and that
which is begotten of the Spirit is spirit.
It is now evident from the facts that we have herein
set forth, that the only claim that Jesus ever made was
this: that he was the son of a man of the tribe of Judah,
and of the house of David as to the flesh, but he was the
son of God, made after the Order of Melchisedek, without
beginning of days or end of life. (Please read Hebrews v,
vi and vii). He was the son of God by regeneration, by
being born from above; as he said, ''that which is begotten
of spirit is spirit;" and the spirit of life which was begot-
ten in him of and by the Father, was the son of God; and
the son of man, frequently said, "I can do nothing of my-
self [as a mere fl eshly man], but the Father that d welleth
in me, he doeth the works." The incarnate God, one of
the Order of Melchisedek, one of the Elohim, was incar-
nate in him.
As Paul said, "He took not on him the nature of an-
gels, but he took on him the seed of Abraham." Who-
what-was this that he [Link] him? Stop, think of those
words, - "he took on him the seed of Abraham." Are
not these words equivalent to your saying of your friend,

"He put on his overcoat?" for there are two factors- ·

"he" .. and "the seed of Abraham." Who is this "he?" for
this "he," whoever he is, takes on, or covers himself with
the SEED of Abraham. Who was the Christ, the anointed
(the prepared and qualified) savior of humanity? Was
he the overcoat that he put on? or was he the man in
the overcoat?- Here is a great mystery to most persons,
for we read, "He was led as a sheep to the slaughter, and
like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his
mouth." Now, to go further, we are brought back to the
statement, "Let us make man in our image and likeness,"
here we are again confronted with the instructions of the
Christ, as it was said in the Revelation, "He that over-
cometh _shall inherit all these things." Not that flesh and
blood can inherit the kingdom of heaven, but the son of ,
God, begotten in the flesh of men inherits the kingdom of
God.
Bear in mind the thought that we have so clearly
brought forth without expressing it, that the real man is ·
the soul or spiritual man, and that the fleshly body is of the
lineage of his pvsterity. That which is begotten of flesh is .
flesh, nothing more, nothing less; but when a spirit-child
is begotten in that fl esh by the [Link], then that child
is the son of God; while the body remains the son of man.
Now, as space forbids further argument in this direc-
til,m, we ask you to ask [Link] the question: What has
been the cause of all the error, falsity and deception that
has come forth as rank tares gro .ving in the b:idy of the
Christian church ?-We answer: The contradiction of all
that the Christ said, the contradiction of all that the
prophets said, viz., the false belief that the flesh of J e-
sus Christ was not the son vf MAN but was the son of
God, We repeat, the open door for all falsity to rush in,
and to overwhelm the Church, has been the belief that it .
was the flesh of the man Jesqs who was the son of G:id, .
and not .the spirit of the man Jesus. Therefore the whole
Church has been bo""'.ing the knee to flesh and not to God,

or to spirit. They have been violating the commandment:

"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or the
likeness of any form that is in heaven above, or that is
in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the
earth: thou shalt not bow down thyself to them nor
serve them" (Ex. xx4, 5).
In violating one of these commandments, as James
said, they are guilty of the violation of all the command-
ments; for when the door is open by violation of divine-
Jaw, then the door is wide open for the great river of er-
ror and darkness and confusion to rush in and to over-
whelm the Church.
For one moment look with me into a statement where
God said, "Let us make man in our image and like us;"
he began the work that should progress thru growth and ·
development; generation after generation, until the man
should appear upon the earth who possest mind-power, .
soul-power, refinement of b::>dy and mind to the degree '
that he was capable of understanding divine truth as ex-
prest in the Scriptures.
By virtue of their capacity to understand and comply
with, live in harmony with, divine law, they will prepare
their bodies to become the temple of God, and then, like
the Master Jesus, interiorly they will be the sons of God;
exteriorly, or according to the flesh, they will be the sons '
of men made in the image and like God. Because ·at this
period of their development they will know that it is nec-
[Link] subordinate, subj_ugate, the physical body with
all its senses and all its external mentality to the ·mind
and will of the son of God within. Then will the body.
become perfectly subservient, obedient to the mind of the '
spirit within them; then will be fulfilled in them ·that
which was said of the Christ, "He was led as a lamb to
the slaughter and like a lamb dumb before his shearers,
so opened he not his mouth," for, whatever the will of the
spirit is, the body will bow in absolute obedience, and will ·
not open its mouth in rebellion to the spirit, even tho it
takes the body to the cross.

In view of the plan to make man, the flesh, that should
express the likeness and image of YAHVEH Elohim, it be-
came necessary that God should bring forth ::>mong men,
a man in his personality, both spirit and body, in the like-
ness and image of God according to the declared purpose.
And Jesus the Christ was that man, and if he had not
been the son of Joseph, the son of Abraham, of the tribe
of Judah, the house of David, he would have been in his
\ife and character a falsehood, a deception, for he would
not have been "like unto his brethren." He would not
have been the first ripe fruit, the fulfilment of the fiat
that went forth in the beginning, "Let us make man in
our image and like us." Now, this falsity, that the flesh
of Jesus Christ was begotten by Spirit, and was not like
unto his brethren, was not of the seed of Abraham, the
lineage of David, has been the devil's lie, that has deceived
and misled the whole Church and has thl'own the door _
wide open to falsity and deception. This lie has covered
up and prevented his people from any possible under-
standing of God's purpose in the creation of the world.
and thrown a dark cloud over all God's methods and re-
quirements concerning us for bringing forth THE MAN in
his likeness and image.
In our effort in this article, we have determined to
tear away the veil of darkness that there may be revealed
to the mind of his people knowledge, and the truth of
which the Master said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the.
truth shall make you free," "from the law of [Link] and
death." No wonder that our dear Master said "This is.
life eternal, to know thee, the only true God, and Jesus
Christ, whom thou hast sent," for, as you will see by
stripping off that dark, damnable veil of error that has
been thrown over the truth since the earliest history of
Christianity, and putting it under-foot, where it belongs,
(if it has any place where it belongs), then life eternal is
open before you. '' Behold I set before thee an open door
and no man can shut it, for thou hast a little strength.''

for if you know the truth and apply it in your lives, YAH-
VEH the God of the universe, the will of the universe, says
he will be your power. Do you not think there is a little
strength in that power?- Do you think there is a little
strength in the mind and will of YAHVEH who created the
universe?-If you do not, l think there is, and so thought
the Lord Christ, for when he healed the sick he said, "Be-
hold, thou art whole," for the Father's name was in him
and he spoke by the authority of that name, therefore he
commanded the winds'. and the waves and all the elements
of earth, and they obeyed him, because he was the son of
man, born of a father and a mother of earth, in the image
and likeness of God. He was a man, the result of the
divine purpose. Because of the purpose he was able to
say, "All power is delivered into my hands in heaven
and in earth;" for he knew that our dear Father had said
in the very beginning of creation, "Let us make man in
our image and LIKE us, and jlet THB]M have dominion."
Not "let him have dominion," but "let them, have domin-
ion"-man-the race of men, the men and women that he
had created, ''over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl
of the air, and over ALL the earth." Oh! give glory to
God, seek his knowledge and his wisdom, that thy soul
may praise him in righteousness forever.

 WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES
(QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS)

LIVING WATER
Question. -When Jesus said to the woman at the well
of Samaria, "Whosoever drinketh of the water that I shal I
give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give
him shall be in him a well of water sprin ging up unto
everlastin g life," what did he mean?
Answer. -Since Jesus spoke of a water that would
give everlasting life, it is evident that he spoke of the.
water of life. Yet that answer does not explain the words
Evidently water is used as a symbol of life because life
flows in streams and currents somewhat as does water.
Life is everywhere, and there is as much life in a dead
body as before, but the body does not · respond to life's
movings. Tho life flows as does water yet it is not subject
to the same laws. The Church teaches us of Jesus that
we are saved by his death, yet Paul declares that "we are
saved by his life." The life in this world which causes
physical bodies to live and be comcious not on ly acts up-
on man, but man by his thinking and his emotioni:::, reacts
upon that life. And because the most of man's thinking
and emotions are disordered and out of harmony with the
proper workings of his own life, he thus fills the world-life
with confusion, and the result of that confusion shows in
misery and disease and death. It is because of this that
God spoke thru the prophet, saying, "I will bring evil
upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts." For
the evils which afflict the people are caused by wrong
thoughts, feelings and emotions. It is because of this that
the Bible so often admonishes, warns and threatens those
who allow themselves to think evil thoughts and to feel
evil emotions.
Jesus said he came that we might have a more abun-
dant life, so that with that added life we might gain add-
ed ability to escape from this disorder and confusion in ·
the world-life, ability to escape the misery, the diseases

and death caused by the disorder of man's own creation.
For man is the creator of the evil state of this world, and
as by wrong thinking and wrong emotions he has filled
the world-life with that confusion which is the cause of
his misery, so by right th1ughts and right emotions he can
bring about and maintain the order that will give peace,
and deliverance from the miseries of this present life.
Jesus taught men of a more refined life than this
animal vitality, of a life called Spirit, Holy Spirit. This
Holy Spirit which also he called "God" (saying to the
woman at the well of Samaria, "God is Spirit"), is a life
so much more subtile and refined than the world-life that
it does not affect the normal physical organism directly to
any great extent.
This more refined life Jesus came not only to tell us
about, but to teach us how we can fit ourselves so that we
can live from, or be actuated by it. Because this more
refined life is in perfect order, it enables those who are
able to live from it with a sufficient degree of fulness to
live forever. For all unhappines, sickness, pain and death
are caused either by disorder in the life which actuates the
body or by the body being so Ollt of order that life can-
not run it. Therefore Jesus said of this more refined
Spirit-life, "It shall be in him a well of water springing
up unto everlasting life," for that life is in perfect order.
While this more refined life does not to any great ex-
tent affect man's organism directly, yet Jesus taught his
disciples how to fit their bodies so as to come into contact
with this Spirit-life to such degree that they could sense
it and live from it. Entering in and living from that
life Jesus called entering the kingdom of heaven, and he
hinted at the physical basis of the process whereby one
may enter into it when he said that there are those who
have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heav-
en's sake. And John said "He that is born of God does
not miss [or fail], for his seed remaineth in him," and in
many places in the Bible we are taught that only by a

life of complete chastity can the body be fitted to respond

to the activities of that more refined life, or, in mystic
terms, can drink of the river of the water of life, which
stream of life always flows in and thru and about us, but
we cannot live from it until the body is fitted to do so by
a life of complete chastity. This is why Paul forbade the
Church to assume the care of widows under sixty years of
age, saying, "When they begin to wax wanton against
Christ, they will marry," because they prefer the pleas-
ure of the generative relation to the hope of eternal life.
Because that Spirit-life is in perfect order, to preserve
that order none are permitted to live in and from it until
they have trained themselves to such order of thought and
feeling that they do not create disorder in it, for no dis-
order cr uncleanness is permitted in that world.

JUDGING OTHERS

Question.-Jesus said, "Judge not lest you be judged,"

and again he said, "Judge not and you will not be judged."
But we know well that everybody is judged of everybody
else, regardless of whether they judge others or not.
What do you understand these words of Jesus fo mean?
Answer. -We understand that the word "judge" car-
ries the meaning of to condemn. And that Jesus really
meant, "Condemn not, and you will not beco ndemned."
We are sure this is a Jaw and that it works out in this
manner. If you refuse to condemn others in any way,
even tho you may see and know they are doing wrong,
when condemnation is sent against you it will not "stick."
And tho the condemnation of others may for a time de-
press you, yet when that depression is gone you will be
the stronger for it.

A JEALOUS GOD
Question. - In Exodus xxxiv 14 we read, ''The LORD,
whose name is jealous, is a jealous God." What do you

think the term "jealous" as used here means?

Answer. -It should be remembered that here, as in
many other places thruout the Bible, the writer was de-
scribing the attributes of that more refined life we call
"Spirit," "Holy Spirit," showing a law of its action
relative to man. There is such a thing as a min being
able to lay hold of God's will, of the power that created
all things, and of using that p'.>wer to accomplish his
purpose. Jesus seems to have gained this · power after,
and partly hru, his forty-day fast. In his prayer to
the Father he said, "I have manifested thy name to the
men whom thou gavest me." That is, he showed by his
miracles that he could lay hold of the powers of God. But
the power of God can be laid hold of by man only under
certain conditions, and one of those conditions is that
that power may be used only in the furtherance of the
Creator's purpose in the earth. And because it will not
respond under other conditions, or without the faith and
recognition of what it is, it is said to be jealous. Some-
times an employee is so far trusted that he is permit_ted
to write and sign checks with his employer's name, and
these checks are honored by the bank; but the C')ndition
imposed is that these checks are used fot the furtherance
of his employer's business. The bank will not honor
a check written by this employee if signed by another de-
positor's name, or by his own name, nor will his employer
permit it to be honored, for he is jealous for his own name.
Because man can, by following Jesus in the regeneration
perfectly, finally learn to lay hold of and exercise God's
powers, he is warned, "Thou shalt take not the name of
the LORD thy God in vain, for YAHVEEI will not hold him
guiltless that taketh his name in vain." It is even as one
signing his employer's name to obtain money for some-
thing contrary to his employer's purpose, he will be pun-
ished.

LOVING GOD

Question. -I have often wondered why Jesus said,

"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength." The
words "thy strength" puzzle me. Why do you think he
used these words?
Answer. -What is generally called love, especially
that between men and women , is usually simply an inter-
change of life; because the life radiating from man seeks
woman, and the life radiating from woman seeks man.
But this kind of love is wholly involuntary, and is com-
mon to all animate things, from man and animals down
to the insects, and even to the vegetation. Usually this
love has in it simply the urge to generation, which urge
nearly everything follows unthinkingly. It is because
people generally know of no other love than this involun-
tary interchange of life between the sexes that we have
so much marital unhappiness. For by following the gen-
erative urge unwisely, nature creates between them a
repulsion to prevent them frcm destroying themselves.
Hence, the common marital conflict.
Each physical organism hungers for certain life-qual-
ities, and when two of the opposite sex meet who mutual-
ly radiate the qualities desired, they at once "fall in love"
with each other. Among human beings this love is called
divine, and by other such names, but occurring between
animals it is called ''the breeding impulse.'' Yet that
love between men and women can become an uplifting in_
fluence upon the mind and consciousness of them both if
their desires for growth and development into a sup2rior
state of being are strong enough to enable them to refuse
to follow the generative impulse and thus be able to retain
the seed. This is necessary because that uplifting impulse
is in the seed, and if for any reason the seed is lost the
impulse and the ability to rise is lost with it. The thought
that a life of complete chastity is necessary if one would

become able to know God and Jesus Christ and gain eter-
nal life offends many profest Christians, even ministers,
even tho it is offered in the Bible in so many ways that
a normally intelligent child can see that the Bible teaches
chastity as essential to attain the ultimate of the Chris-
tian life, a spiritual consciousness and eternal life, when
the simple statements in the Bible to that effect are shown
to it. But "none are so blind as they who will not see."
Men and women who are trying to follow Jesus in the
regeneration and attain to Godlikeness and eternal life
thru retaining their seed as a material ·basis, and by main-
taining an attitude of devotion toward God, which simply
means to reach out to God as a little child toward its fath~
er, seeking to become conscious of and to see and know
the light of the Spirit and those holy ones who dwell in
that light, in time will sense the life-radiations of thosE:
in that heavenly world. In other words, they come in
touch with the love-life of the angel-world.
As receiving the harmonious radiating life from one
of the opposite sex intensifies all the consciousness and
senses and abilities, so those who come in touch with the
love-life of the angel-world find that all consciousness of a
spiritual nature becomes strengthened and increased, and
it can be increased until one becomes so fully conscious
of the presence of those holy ones in the angel-world that
their companionship is almost constant (See Isa. xxx 20;
John xiv 24). In fact, one thus enters heaven while still
living on the earth. This is why Jesus said, "The king-
dom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it
by force." The reason this statement has not been un-
derstood is that the Church has always taught that one
must die to enter heaven, that no special effort need be
made, that only a special belief is necessary, and this even
tho the Bible does not say we are to be judged by our be-
liefs, but it does declare that we will be judged by our
works. And dying does not increase the consciousness.
But this love which begins to be experienced by one
following on in the regeneration is not natural in the

sense of coming to one without any preparation on one's

part, it must be carefully sought for and nursed and sus-
tained, that it may grow and increase. And as all the in-
fluences of this world tend to blot out all consciousness of
the Spirit-world, and so, to shut one off from the love-life
of the angel-world, to maintain the right attitude of mind
and heart to shut out the darkness of this world some-
times requires all, and even more, of the strength of mind
and will than one has .

.HE WILL NOT FORGIVE YOU

Question.-We read in the Bible that God said to

Moses, ''I will send mine angel before you, Beware of
him, obey his voice, provoke him not, he will not forgive
your transgressions, for my name is in him." What do
you understand are the conditions wherein God will not
forgive one's sins?
Answer. -The angel sent before the people of Israel
seems to correspond with the angel teacher sent to the
neophyte seeking to follow on in the regeneration. Some-
times one is having a series of experiences that give him
knowledge along certain lines. And for lack of due care
and thought he does something wrong relative to that
thing. At once the angel drops that line of teaching; from
that time on he must learn those things as best he can, he
is not forgiven. And tho the angel may continue to teach
him other things, yet that certain line of teaching is done.
Those who become conscious of their teacher need to be
careful, lest they do something that may cause them to be
left alone in darkness. Tho one who has not known the
light of the Spirit of God may find comfort even in dark-
ness, but when one who has that light loses it, he finds
the darkness to be dreadful punishment.

BEING IN HEAVEN
Question. -Jesus said, "No man hath ascended up in-

to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the

son of man which is in heaven." How could Jesus be both
in heaven and on the earth at the same time?
Answer.-Heaven is all about us, we are as much in
heaven now as to place as we ever can be. But we are
not conscious of it. It is as a blind man standing by your
side, you can see the light, but he cannot. If you follow
Jesus in the regeneration, in time you will be able to see
the light of heaven, and to see the heavenly ones who
dwell in that light. In time those heavenly beings will
come and associate with you, so that you begin to be both
in heaven and on earth at the same time.
The promise that Jesus made, "If a man love me, he
will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we
will come unto him, and make our abode with him," did
not mean that he and the Father would leave heaven to be
with him, but that his soul-senses would so awaken that
he would always be conscious of those who are in heaven
being with him, so that they are always either in sight or
within hearing. This thought is offered in the promise,
"Before they call I will answer; and while they are yet
speaking, I will hear" (Isa. !xv 24). The idea advanced
here is that in the Spirit-world all communication is by
thought, among them thoughts are as spoken words; and
this promise implies such a nearness that even the thought
is heard and known before the word is spoken.

QUESTIONS

1. Does the whole of regeneration grow out of the

problem of sex-polution?
Answer. -Regeneration is the process of developing
a spiritual consciousness, of becoming consciously a spirit
living in the Spirit-world, and this cannot be done until
all sex-pollution is overcome.
2. What is commonly understood by the fall of Adam
and Eve?

Answer.-We do not know the common belief rela- '

tive to it, but the Bible seems to offer the idea that the
fall was a fall into generation.
3. Can it be definitely established that all diseases
of whatever type are simply some form of debility?
Answer. -To the minds of many of the different
schools of healers it probably can, but we doubt if the
general mind can w accept it .
. 4. May it be assumed that evil and crime of every
type owe their origin to the lusts of the flesh?
Answer. -Evil in the form of accidents need not be
so, but apparently all crime results from the lusts of the
flesh.
5. On what basis did God propose to propagate the
human race?
Answer. -Apparently by generation.
6. Is it possible that this was done by the power of
the spoken word?
Answer.-Apparently the words ''Be fruitful and
multiply," ref er to a power in nature urging every living
t hing t o generate its kind.

 SOLAR BIOLOGY

WHAT is understood by SOLAR BIOLOGY?

To many people who are unfamiliar with this term,
and who have lately written us with requests for inform-
ation, we offer the following answer:
For ages past, methodical study has been directed to-
ward the universe or stellar world around us with a view
of ascertaining the nature and extent of our relationship
to and dependence upon the cosmic forces, a study which
naturally has centered, principally, around the members
of our solar system. In more recent times a .division of the
study into two main departments was brought about, viz.,
into ASTRONOMY and ASTROLOGY. While Astronomy is the
science that deals with the magnitudes, distances, move-
ments, substances, e-t cetera, of stellar bodies, Astrology
concerns itself with the nature of the infiurmces that the
different bodies of our solar system exert upon the earth
and, especially, upon man. Thus it may be said that As-
tronomy and Astrology differ in this respect, that whereas
Astronomy primarily concerns itself with the Timp,, Space
and Matter aspect of the stars, Astrology primarily deals
with the influential [Link] that the stars, thru the agency
of their radiations and movements, exert upon the earth
and man. This general definition given, we may take
leave of Astronomy and turn our attention to Astrology.
Astrology itself, in the course of time and as its study
became increasingly systematized, came to fall under two
general subdivisions, depending upon whether the object
sought, was to ascertain the nature of stellar influences
upon man, physically, mentally, psychically or whether
the object sought was to interpret the influence the stars
exert upon earth in general, predicting and explaining,
from calculations derived, the When and Why of floods,
drouths, storms, earthquakes, electro-magnetic disturb-
ances or other changes and upheavals in nature.
Let it be said here at once, that SuLAR BIOLOGY is
concerned only with the nature of the stellar influences
upon man, and that it has nothing to do with the effects

upon the earth itself, except as it may bear directly upon

man _:_thus SOL<\R BIOLOGY does not undertake to specu-
late upon or predict future events of whatever nature.
To Hiram E. Butler came the conviction, that a need
for a new system of astrological science was long overdue
-a system, which would break away from the GEOCEN-
TRIC idea and method upon which the whole system of
Astrology is based, and which could arrive at the true
facts of solar and planetary influences upon man based
on HELIOCENTRIC calculations, thus working them out
from the fact that the sun, not the earth, is the center of
our system. Possessed with such intuitive endowments as
are seldom equalled in a generation, Butler was eminent-
ly equipped to inspire from the Solar Sphere its various
qualities and, fortunately enough, with his practical turn
of mind and orderly nature. was also capable systematic-
ally to arrange, classify and present to the world the mass
of facts inspired.
The result was his epoch making book, called SOLAR
BIOLOGY.
Solar Biology, th en, presents the science of Solar Life
or Solar Forces as they relate to and influence man. It
was called Solar Biology by Butler, who coined this new
term, to distinguish the system it presented from the geo-
centric system, Astrology, because, in using different data
and arriving at different conclusions, Solar Biology defi-
nitely parts ways with the geocentric system, Astrology.
The accuracy of Solar Biology has been timEl- tested
for now well over half a century, and it is being consult-
ed by employment organizations of various kinds as well
as by thousands of men and women in all walks of life.
This work then stands out, now as in the past, as the
standard authority on the HELIOCENTRIC SYSTEM of com-
peting Solar and Planetary Influences. As such it reveals
the distinguishing qualities of the twelve divisions or
"signs" of the Solar Aura or Zodiac, determining there-
from as well as from planetary positions, rising sign, et

cetera, the physical, mental and psychic traits and char-

acteristics of any person from the time of birth, offering
thereby invaluable aid to parents and teachers, pointing
out individual tendencies and inclinations, business qualifi-
cations, art-is tic, mechanical or other occupational abilities,
and by indicating the strong and th e weak points in a per-
son's nature and physical organism,' it is easy to see how
this book is of special value to Physicians and Healers;
enabling them to diagnose with greater ease and accuracy,
in that it ~ells them the physical ailments to which their
patients are most liable. To Psychologists and Mental
Healers, likewise, it proves of great assistance, as it
throws light upon mental and psychic propensities and
motivations.
The information offered by SOLAR BtOLOGY on the
true nature and function of sex, should prove particularly
valuable to parents whose children are approaching the
age of puberty, as well as to those young men and women
who are about to choose a life companion in marriage.
The fact of the existence of vital chemical and magnetic
forces, and the subtle laws that rule their operation in
attraction or repulsion between individuals of opposite
sex, is too little known. In our days, when the sexes
. mingle freely in all departments of life, it becomes in-
creasingly important to know and to understand how these
laws operate, thereby avoiding too hasty decisions which
may ultimate in disillusion, broken-up homes and unhap-
piness. Here Solar Biology comes to aid as a friendly guide
and counselor, warning how to steer clear of the dangers
of mxrriage incompatibility, as caused by incompatibility
of chemical and magnetic elements in man and woman.
Being the first, and for many years the only teacher
before the world t_o promulgate the esoteric teachings of
REGENERATION (the Conservation and Transmutation of
the vital seminal and magnetic potencies in man for su-
preme achievements), Butler has in valuable information
on this most vital subject to offer in Solar Biology.

That there is a constant play and interplay of forces

active in the universe, has been known long before Pope
wrote his memorable lines that
"All are but parts of one stupendous whole,
Whose body nature is, and God the soul,"
but we believe, that never before, within known history,
has the following fact of far reaching and vital impor-
tance to men and women in all walks of life and of what-
ever age, been so clearly set forth as in SOLAR BIOLOGY:
That there exists an intimate relationship between the
stellar forces and man's creative forces and function, the
very fountain and source of his life and well-being, the
sex-functiou, and that thru a proper knowledge of this
relationship, as expressed in and thru the Solar Fluid, the
movements of the Moon, the Rising Sign, et cetera, and
their effects on man's vital function, man may success-
fully lay hold, within his own organism, of the Law of
Transmutation, and in so doing increase his physical vi-
tality, achieve a corresponding measure of Rejuvenation
and increased Health, achieve Mental clearness and effi-
ciency and develop dormant faculties of Psychic and Spir-
itual nature.
As to the use by the average layman "of Solar Biolo-
gy, let us in conclusion say, that this book presents a
system, worked out in so simple and easi ly comprehen
sive a way, that ANYONE (even children*), can readily
understand the directions given and be able to bring out
the particular information wanted, as the subject matter
of the book is already so systematically and so ingeniously
arranged by the author, that no one needs deny himself
the use of this system with the excuse that it must be "too
difficult" for him or her to find desired facts out. Truly,
where there is a will to reap benefit, there is in this
book a way shown.
·'* The first person to read a delineation from Solar Bi-
ology, when the first copy of the book came from the bind-
ery, was a ten-year old girl.
 AN EXPLANATION

IN answer to the query, "How do we arrive at our

conclusions relative to the effects of the planets in their
motions upon the people," as given under "Planetary In-
fluences," . each month in this magazine, we would say
that we use the information given in "Solar Biology" to
find the influences active thruout the whole earth, and by
.combining this information with the aid of the statements
given in our book, ''The Seven Creative Principles,'' we
arrive at our conclusions as to the effects of their play
upon the people.
Solar Biology shows that the whole solar system is
filled with life, we may say, an atmosphere of life. It may
be called "solar life," "Spirit Life." While filling and sur-
rounding the earth is another and more material life, it is
animal vitality. Scientists recognize and declare that the
occurrences on the sun affect the electrical conditions thru-
out the earth, and reason demands a medium of some kind
to transmit that influence, but they hesitate to accept the
thought that as the sun is a center of forces which in their
activities bring about observable phenomena . thruout the
earth with no known medium thru which to operate, just
so the planets in their turn are centers of forces which
are transmitted thru some medium-which medium, by
the way is that Spirit Life which fills the whole solar
system.
ThesE: Planetary Forces, coming to the earth thru
the medium of this "Spirit Life," are transmitted to
the earth and influence the life, the animal vitality,
which both fills and surrounds the earth. Many sci-
entists are sincerely devout Christians or Jewfl, yet
they hesitate to accept the teachings of the prophets of
Israel regarding that formless LIFE which fills the u ni-
verse, and which they cause to say, "Do not I fill heaven
and earth?" Then that Life, in its different degrees of
refinement, in which "we live and move and have our
being," is the medium which transmits to the earth from

sun, moon and planets the play and interplay of those

activities of that infinite Life which we call "The Seven
Creative Principles." This is equivalent to saying that
the infinite Mind acting in and thru universal life directs
its creative energies upon the earth in accord with the
positions and mJtions of the heavenly bodies, which,
again, is equivalent to saying that the heavenly bodies are
the brain-organs of the Creator, and that in their motions
we observe that infinite Mind thinking. And the thought-
processes of that Mind are carrying on all the work of
creation, and are causing man to grow and develop into
the Godlike being dominating all life upon the earth as
was determined for him at the beginning.
We state in the article, "Planetary Influences," for
each month the nature of the influences from each of the
different planets- that is, the creative principle which
radiates from each planet. To illustrate: From Solar Biol-
ogy we learn that the planet Jupiter radiates the creative
principle Fermentation, and in whatever sign of the zodiac
Jupiter may be, -for instance, Cancer, the sign embodying
Cohesion, the mother-principle, the dominant principle of
the home-life-it causes fermentation in the home-life of
the people. It likewise causes a special fermentation in
the lives of all persons born in the sign Cancer. This
same phenomenon manifests with all the other planets as
well. (We suggest to those who are sufficiently interested
in further research into the science of Solar Biology, that
a little judicious inquiry among their friends may prove
to them the correctness of this assertion.)
Solar Biology shows that every person is an embodi-
ment of the life-activities thruout the solar system as they
were at the time of that one's birth. But as a planet
moves around the sun from sign to sign, it brings the
principle it embodies into action in the sign thru which it
may be passing, and in a special manner into the lives
of persons born in that sign. So we see that Jupiter, being

the- embodiment of Fermentation, causes fermentation
wherever it goes.
While a person's character (determined by the con-
ditions active thruout the solar system at his birth),
remains the saMe thru life, yet the different changes in
the life of every individual, as well as in what may be
termed the world-life, are caused by the motions of the
heavenly bodies. And it is these changes, in the life in
which man lives and which causes him to live, that are
the creative [Link] in the world. We say "creative fac-
tors," for they impel the people as a mass, as well as the
individuals, first in one direction, then in another, which
gives to all men one experience after another continuous-
ly, causing mankind to develop both mind and body. For
man is not yet a finished product of the Creator's handi-
work, but he is still in the making, and the process of
developing into that which the Creator has designed for
him is being carried on by the many experiences in life
brought about by the play and interplay of the Seven Cre-
ative Principles in the life which causes him to live.
So we see that man is being developed into that
which the Creator will have him to be by the varying in-
fluences from the heavenly bodies in their motions, and
we reach the conclusi0n that the heavenly bodies are
the brain organs of that infinite Mind we call "G'.)d the
Creator. "

Sister and I arrived home from Hawaii and struck the
cold spell. We are going down into Mexico, to Mazatlan
on the coast, at the latitude of the Tropic of Cancer,
which is Hawaii's latitude. I was much improved by the
sun baths on the beach at Waikiki, Honolulu.
I handed out Bible Reviews (some of which Sister
brought to Hawaii) to (I) a church deacon from Calif or-
nia, (2) to three Presbyterian ladies who lived in an ad-
joining cottage at Waikiki. And to several others I gave
Solar Biology delineations; one to the guardians of an
orphan girl who is a "problem-child," at the critical age
of seventeen, with innate urges which, wrongly directed,
would most certainly lead downward sexually. It takes
much wisdom to dare to suggest much in a case like this,
-I think I trod softly yet effectively, and that good will
result.

Wherever one goes the same problems puzzle people

-the same pleasures and pain as they surge along-living

CANCER
IT is no mean part that the sign Cancer plays in the
life and the affairs of the body of humanity; for its rep-
resentativPs are people of much warmth of nature, with
eminently a mother principle, which exercises always a
strong enfolding, cherishing, nourishing quality, among
the people.
"In the perfect ultimate of persons of this nature,
their Genii brings them to a consciousness of the 'divine
sophia,' the former and presnver of all. as shown in the
'Seven Creative Principles.' The Divine Mother gathers
the substance of the Divine Father; forms it into an organ-
ism; and binds itand holds it for service on earth. So these
persons when they have overcome 'selfishness' (in the
form of egotism) 'hate' and 'passion' then they will cease
to hold merely the individual self, but will accept their
position in the body as the mother who willingly gives her
substance to her babe to nourish it; so will these draw
down the divine substance of spirit for the illumination of

HELIOCENTRIC POSITIONS ARE USED THRUOUT

There is necessarily considerable repetition in stating

the planetary influences from month to month, as the larger
planets remain in a sign of the zodiac for a considerable

URANUS ( 0 ) IN SCORPIO (m_)
Uranus is in the sign Scorpio. As Uranus is the
embodiment of the Creative Principle Sensation, which
principle is the basis of all consciousness, being in Scorpio
turns the attention to the sensations resulting thru the
functioning of sex, giving a perception of the, usually
ignored, undesirable effects on the body of sexual indul-
gence or of any loss of vitality thru that function. The
perception of these undesirable effects of the loss of vital-
ity will prompt to the restraint of the sex-impulses and give
an inclination to chastity.
It will also disincline to express the mind fully, giving
a tendency to hide one'8 thoughts, with the inclination
to carry out one's plans in silence and secrecy. These
influences will be most parceptible to persons born in the
sign Scorpio, from October 23rd to November 22nd of any
year, and by persons otherwise qualified by Scorpio. And
particularly now by persons born on or near November 6th.
SATURN (Q) IN LIBRA (,g,)
Saturn is now in the sign Libra, and while in the
sign Libra all the disturbing influences of Saturn, with
its tendency to bring about sudden changes, are now felt
by persons born in the sign Libra, between September
2:3rd and October 23rd. Those persons born between these
dates, and especially those born on or near October 4th,
are liable to see sudden and decided changes in their
lives and affairs.
Saturn is the embodiment of the Creative Principle
Transmutation, which causes changes from one state to
another state, which is the reason its influence often

brings sudden and complete changes. These changes are
just as likely to be for the better as for the worse, altho
even changes for the better sometimes cause temporary
inconvenience.
While Saturn is in Libra it will tend to improve the
mechanical abilities, which will lead to increased improve-
ments in that line. It will increase ideals and visions and
the appreciation of the reality of things unseen. It will
aid those who seek to improve the domestic an.d social con-
ditions by giving perceptions of better and higher states
relative thereto; but to those who seek simply the enjoy-
ments of the senses it will incline to license rather than
to restraint.
JUPITER (21.) IN LEO ( Q )
Jupiter is the embodiment of fermentation, and in
whatever sign it may be it tends to strengthen the cor-
responding physical function. At the present time it is
in the sign Leo, and it will tend to strengthen the heart,
and thus while in that sign it will tend to increase the
general health, and the ideals concerning the happiness
of loving and of being loved. It will increase the appreci-
ation of music and will give the desire for better and more
refined surroundings, with the impulse to self-culture
and the attaining of an improved standard of living.
While Jupiter is in the sign Leo it will bring the Crea-
tive Principle Fermentation into play in the lives of all
persons born in that sign, between July 22 and August 23,
which will manifest in an uneasy restlessness, for no ap-
parent reason; this disturbing influence is especially strong
now in the lives of persons born on or near August 15th.
MARS (cf ) IN CAPRICORN (16) AND AQUARIUS (r-z )
Because Mars is the embodiment of the Creative Prin-
ciple Cohesion, the mother principle, its influence tends
to bind and restrain in whatever sphere or department of
life it may be operating.
Until July 21st Mars will be in the sign Capricorn, and
while in that sign it will increase the general love for and

the inclination to care for and to train children, inclining

even to extremes in that direction.
On July 21st Mars will enter the sign Aquarius, and
while in that sign it will increase the general desire to
travel, to mee.t strangers and to be with the crowds and

EARTH (EB) IN CANCER (® ) AND LEO (Q)
The Earth being the embodiment of the Creative
Principle Order, its presence in a sign tends to bring an
increase of order, and consequent ability, into the lins of
all persons who were born while the earth was in that sign.
Until July 23rd the earth will be in the sign Cancer,
the embodiment of the Principle Cohesion, and while in
that sign the maternal anxiety will increase, and will
manifest in greater appreciation of home and family and
in the economy that seeks to provide for offspring.
On July 23rd the earth will enter the sign Leo, and
while in that sign it will awaken to greater activity the
emotions of love and good will, and will increase the sense
of order and strengthen the aspirations toward better as-
sociate conditions.
VENUS IN ARIES ( 'Y'), TAURUS ('t5) AND GEMINI (U:)
The planet Venus is the embodiment of the Creative
Principle Discrimination, and in whatever sign it may be
it increases the general discrimination relative ~o the
characteristics of that sign. Discrimination gives keen
perceptions, and prompts to love and to hate, to positive
likes and dislikes.
Until July 12th Venus will be in Aries, and while in
· that sign it will increase the general desire for peace and
harmony, and fear of inharmony will disincline to matri-
mony. It will increase the love for and appreciation of
the opposite sex in those persons born in Aries, between
March 21 and April 20.
On July 12th Venus will enter Taurus, and while in
Taurus it will strengthen the general likes and dislikes
and the inclination to seek pleasure.

It will increase the appreciation and love for the oppo-

site sex in all persons born in the sign Taurus, between
April 20 and May 21.
On July 31st Venus will enter Gemini, and will give
the desire to know and to seek knowledge, with the inclin-
ation to teach, to give that knowledge to others.
It will incre~se the appreciation and love for the oppo-
site sex in those persons born in Gemini, between May 21
and June 21.
MERCURY IN AQUARIUS ( = ), PISCES ()-(), ARIES ('I'),
TAURUS ('15') AND GEMINI (:U:)
Mercury is the embodiment of the Creative Principle
Force, and in whatever sign it may be, the corresponding
physical function is strengthened and is made more active.
Until July 3rd Mercury will be in Aquarius, and while
in that sign it still maintains the active business efforts.
On July 3rd Mercury will enter Pisces, and while there
it will increase the general restlessness and the desire to
travel and to be on the feet.
On July 9th Mercury will enter Aries, and while in
Aries it will strengthen the brain and will incline to a
practical but materialistic outlook on life.
On July 18th Mercury will enter Taurus, and will in-
tensify the feelings and emotions and will strengthen the
brain.
On July 28th Mercury will enter Gemini, and while
there it will tend to quiet the general nervous activity and
strengthen the brain and incline to scientific studies.
It will increase respect for the opinions exprest by rec-
ognized authorities, but wm tend to give a feeling of
helplessness or of panic in times of sudden emergency of
calamity, with the inclination to shrink from assuming
any unusual responsibilities.
A SUMMING UP
The larger planets still continue their general benefi-
cent influence, and with the kindlier influences from the

smaller planets the first half of the month will be charac-

terized by an increased love for home and children, while
during the last half there will be a more general feeling
of kindness and goodwill. On the whole the general in-
fluence for the month is good and inclines to bring about
better conditions among the P,~Ople.
