UNIT 29: Music Video Production

Task 3

In this assignment I will be creating a concept for this project and


producing a music video.

The track I chose is called ‘When The Party’s Over’ by Billie Eilish

MEANING
The song is about someone talking to a current or past lover, saying
that they have better things to focus on than a broken relationship.

IMAGERY
The music video itself is quite gloomy and simple, it’s easy to
understand a certain aspect of the story through it.

DURATION
3 minutes 15 seconds.

PACE
The pace of the song is slow and gentle.

VIDEO’S STYLE
The video’s style is simplistic and gloomy, it looks like they’re in a
medical room that has a dark undertone.

My original concept was to tell the story of a girl who’s going


through a rough break up/fight with their partner who won’t talk to
them and explain what happened. But eventually she gets fed up and
just gets all of her emotions out before going on to do what she wants
to do without worrying about what he’s thinking.
But due to personal and technical reasons, that didn’t happen and I
instead made a lyric video for the song. As background, I used my
own self taken photography while making the words popup in time
with the song itself.

Due to the change in plans, I didn’t need any location scouting in


order to film. But before I switched to the lyric video, I had planned
to use a different song and a friends’ house or a park.

The pictures I used had already been taken a long time before making
the lyric video so I also didn’t need to scout for locations for the
photography either, but I took a few of them in a forest, park and from
just walking about.

I used [Link] to download the song itself in an MP3 format. Due


to the fact that I could not get in contact with the artist, I have not
been given 100% permission to use the song, but it will only be
copyright infringement if I claimed it was my own song. Something I
have not done and have made very clear.
