INTRODUCTION OF THE COMPANY
PI Industries was incorporated in 1947. P I Industries manufactures pesticides and
insecticides. The Company is promoted by Mr. Salil Singhal (Chairman & Managing
Director), Mr. Mayank Singhal (Managing Director & CEO) and headed by an
experienced and professional Board of Directors.
The Company’s corporate office is located in Gurgaon (Haryana), R&D centre in
Udaipur (Rajasthan) and manufacturing facilities in Panoli, Jambusar (Gujarat) and
Jammu (J&K).
The Company possesses an extensive network of 29 stocking points, around 9,000
distributors and more than 40,000 retail points across the country.
Mr. MAYANK SINGHAL, Managing Director and
CEO
An Engineering Management Graduate from the UK, he joined PI
in 1996. He was appointed as Joint Managing Director in 2004. Mr.
Mayank Singhal was appointed as Managing Director and CEO of
the Company with effect from December 1, 2009.
He has worked at the Plant level for 2 years and has been responsible for the rapid
growth and expansion of the Company’s manufacturing and marketing.
He is also a Director on the Boards of PI Life Science Research Ltd., PILL Finance and
Investment Ltd. and Samaya Investment and Trading Pvt. Ltd.

Mr. SALIL SINGHAL, Chairman and Managing
Director
He has been leading the Company since July 1979. Mr. Singhal is a
highly reputed and known Agro Chemical Industry Leader and was
the Chairman of the Pesticides Association of India (now Crop Care
Federation of India) for 20 years. Members subsequently elected
him as Chairman Emeritus.
His focus has been on developing an international outlook to the business with a strong
focus on Research, Development and Innovations.
He was a member of the Executive Committee of FICCI as also Chairman of its
Environment Committee for 5 years.\
Currently, he is Co-Chairman of CII National Council on Agriculture, and has been a
member of the National Council of CII for the past 5 years.

Pesticides India, a division of PI Industries Ltd., Udaipur is a 40 years old
enterprise with interests in Pesticides , Fine chemicals and Polymers.
The company is also engaged in other segments such as minerals, metering and
allied products.
The company enjoys an excellent market reputation, a strong distribution network
and brand equality throughout India.
PIIL has a aggressive growth plans for its PESTICIDES BUSINESS in the North
and is looking towards strengthening its marketing team in the states of Punjab ,

AGRI INPUT :
Agri inputs comprising plant protection products as well as specialty plant nutrient
products and solutions.
The company pioneered the introduction of granular formulations in India and, over the

Ethion and Phorate.

CUSTOM SYNTHESIS :
Custom synthesis and contract manufacturing of agro-chemicals, pharma early
intermediates and other niche fine chemicals that address the growing needs of global
innovators. This business is strengthened by a strong R&D support system (in Udaipur),
which develops processes in order to commercialize products based on newly discovered
chemistries in collaboration with reputed global innovators.

KILO lab:
In this lab products are made in small quantity for the purpose of testing &
research work.
It has distillation facilities to establish recycling of solvents etc.
This lab has the capability of handling low temperatures, high temperatures, low
pressures and high pressures reactors.
Reactors capacity- 5 Ltr to 200 Ltr .
Number of reactors assemblies -12.

PILOT PLANT :
It has facilities to carry out various reactions including high pressure, etc.
Having unit processes e.g. Crystallization, filtration, vacuum distillation, etc.
It includes many different reactors having capacity of 450 Lts to 1500 Lts.
It also has facilities for solvent recovery and recycling.

I had done my training from R&D unit of PI Industries Ltd.
I studied some export documents in export department of PI Industries Ltd.
I worked under the guidance of Mr. Rajesh Kothari (Sr. manager in commercial
department).
I also studied the export procedure of exporting the goods.
I also worked in HR department for 2 weeks.
I also studied the process of manufacturing of products in production department
of PI Industries Ltd.

It was a great experience working in PI Industries Ltd., One of the leading
pesticide & insecticide company in India. Here, I learnt different types of
processes followed by different departments of the company.
The complete details of my training on weekly basis are as follows :

1st week :
In the first week of my training, I was introduced to the staff members. The staff
members of PI industry made me aware about the working process of the
company.
They also told me about products of the company & clients of the company.
My timings are from 9am to 5 pm.
I also had a visit to there kilo labs and quality labs where the products are
manufactured & checked for quality for research purpose.
2nd week :
In the second week of training I was working in HR department under Mr.
Sourabh Suwalka. He assigned me the task of data entry.
Some times he told me to some letters on company’s letter head then he verifies
the work done by me and then tells me to give the letters to concerned person or
department.
He also allotted me the work of delivering the documents & cheques to the banks
(Axis Bank) through which, company do its transaction work.

3rd week :
In the third week of my training, I was shifted from HR department to the export
department on my request.
The head of export department is Mr. Rajesh Kothari (Sr. manager). He guided
me about the products which the company exports. These products were called
custom synthesis products or fine chem. These products are manufactured on
special demand of clients (mostly these clients are foreign clients).
He also told me about the export process and some of the INCO terms which are
used in this export process.
Here, in export department of Research & development unit, Udaipur all the work
is done online via e-mails. Mr. Rajesh Kothari also taught me how to deal with
clients online, through e-mails.
In early stage, it was little bit difficult for me to understand the products
demanded by the customers but when Mr. Rajesh Kothari guided me about the
products which the company exports to their clients, then it become easier for me
to understand the mails of the clients.

4th week:
In this week , I was assigned the task of checking the mails of the clients and
report to Mr. Rajesh Kothari about the quarries they are having.
I also answered some of the mails of new clients under the guidance of Sr.
Manager commercial department.
I this week, I also visited company’s manufacturing plant where I got the
opportunity to improve my knowledge about the products of the company and
production processes which are carried out in the manufacturing unit.
5th week:
In the fifth week, I replied 40-50 e-mails of clients and also attended few of the
calls of clients of the company.
I also learned about some of the shipping terms used during the time of dispatch
of products such as FOB and C&F.
In this week, I also attended a staff meeting where market & targets of company
are discussed .It was also a very nice experience and great learning for me.

6th week:
In the sixth week of my training, I replied another 50 -60 mails of clients.
I also send some promotional mails to over clients to make them aware about
company’s products. I sent the mails to both domestic clients as well as
international clients.
I also visited the research & development library, it has a huge collection of books
for research purpose.

7th week:
In this week, I visited quality lab with Mr. Rajesh Kothari where all the samples
of products are tested for standard quality and if they pass the test then only the
product is sold in market.
Around 40 mails are replied by me in this week.
About 15-20 calls of clients are attended by me.
Other staff members are also very supportive; they also guided me in my work.

Here in PI INDUSTRIES Ltd. I learnt how to handle clients via e-mail.
I learnt about different types of INCO terms used during the time of shipping of
goods. Some INCO terms which are mostly used are FOB (free on board) and CIF
(cost, insurance and freight).
I also learnt the process of checking the quality of the products in quality lab.
I also learnt the proper way of communication with clients.
I learnt about Export procedure for shipping the products.
