National Ranking System
Purpose
The National Ranking System is intended to provide for the ranking of archers in Trinidad and
Tobago based on results of tournaments organized by the federation. It is also meant to promote
participation in archery. Archers are ranked on their performance over a two-year period.
National Ranking Tournaments
The federation would, at the start of each year, announce the tournaments that would be
considered as National Ranking Tournaments. The results of these tournaments would be the
only results used to calculate the national ranking score.
Classes
The classes or categories that would be included in the system would be:
1. Cadet Men
2. Cadet Women
3. Junior Men
4. Junior Women
5. Recurve Men
6. Recurve Women
7. Compound Men
8. Compound Women
9. Master Recurve Men
10. Master Recurve Women
11. Master Compound Men
12. Master Compound Women
The points earned at a tournament can be applied to only one class.
Calculating the Ranking Score
The system used is the same used by World Archery with the exception of the factors given to
the Quality of the tournament and the Quantity. In the WAF system a factor is given for the
Olympic Games down to World Ranking Tournaments. In our environment we wish to provide
for our monthly and quarterly shoots as well as our national tournaments.
The formula is:

Ranking Points are the points earned by the archer’s finishing position in the tournament.

The Quality Factor is a measure of the pedigree of the tournament.

Quantity Factor
Tournaments are classed according to the number of archers competing in an individual class.

The factor is the same as for World Archery but the Number of Archers are reduced by half.

The Period Factor is used to reduce the tournament score as the age of the tournament
increases, up to two years. That is, tournaments older than two years are not considered (their
value is zero).

The Club Score
A club will be given a score based on the position their archers are placed in the Top Ten list.
An archer in first place would get points equal to the number of archers in that list. The second
place archer would get 1 point less than the first place archer, and so on with tenth place getting
1 point less than the ninth place archer. All the points in all the classes will be summed for the
club score.

Publication of the List
The National Ranking List will be published in the week following the NRT. The List will be
published on the federation’s website [Link].
