III. LECTURE OUTLINE
Priming Activity/ Warm Up
Activity 1. FIND YOUR PARTNER!
Mechanics
In this activity, each group will be given eight figures. In 30 seconds they are
going to find their partner by comparing the figure they are holding. This activity shows
congruence of the corresponding parts of the triangles.
GUIDE QUESTIONS:
1. Why/How did you choose your partner?
2. Can you describe the figure you have? What is it?
3. What can you say about the size and shape of the two figures?
4. How do you define congruent triangles?
Activity 2: LET’S DO IT! (Doing Routine Exercises)
There are two parts of test in this activity. First, each group will answer 3 random
questions which related to the concept of proving congruent triangles. Each question
has four choices from letter A to letter D. Every letter of choice has a corresponding
animal sound. The group will only give their answer after the 10-second countdown. For
the second part, they are going to complete two two-column proofs for one minute
each item.
Open Discussion/ Lecture “ CONDITIONS FOR TRIANGLE CONGRUENCE’’
This part the teacher simulator will present to the teacher participants the
properties of triangle congruence and the different conditions for triangle congruence
(SSS, SAS, ASA and SAA Congruence Postulates)
Activity 3: PROVE ME RIGHT!
The group will be given ten minutes to answer the given a non-routine problem.
They are going to prove that two triangles are congruent using the two-column proof.
GUIDE QUESTIONS:
1. Did you find any difficulty in proving two triangles to be congruent?
2. What concepts did you use to prove that two triangles to be congruent?
3. When are two triangles congruent?
4. What are the conditions for triangle congruence?
5. How can we show that corresponding parts of congruent triangles are
congruent?
