POSITION TITLE: MILLWRIGHT

REPORTS TO:

I. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain, dismantle, and install machinery and mechanical service equipment, including
ventilating and heating systems, and building repairs.

II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Performs varied mechanical duties such as dismantling, moving, repairing and installing or
repairing power shafting, pulleys, hoists, conveyors and other facility equipment. Starts up and shuts
down equipment in line with company safety procedures for equipment under power and OSHA
requirements.

Working with concrete and cement, may set up machine foundations, install power drives in
correct position, and align power shafts and pulleys.

Installs and/or changes the layout of machines and mechanical equipment in a facility. Uses
blueprints, company 'Facility Layout' handbook, conforming with local building codes and safe
operating practices.

In conjunction with Machinists, Electricians and other maintenance personnel, coordinate


erection and dismantling of machine tools and equipment on installations, plant layout changes, repairs
and rebuilding.

Plan, oversee and engage in building repairs and alterations; repair and maintain the heating,
piping, plumbing and sprinkler systems; do masonry, concrete and sheet metal repair work as assigned.

Depending upon the size of the facility, if no carpenter or painter is employed, carries out these
trade functions. Makes crates to ship dismantled equipment.

Uses hoists, forklift truck, rollers or trolleys to move machinery. Frequently works with
electrician or pipefitter to complete dismantling or installation jobs.

Be familiar with and use power and hand tools typical of the various trades applied such as
carpentry, plumbing, pipe fitting, sheet metal, masonry and concrete work.

Notifies supervisor of potentially dangerous piping systems and corrective action taken or
documented.
III. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Completion of formal apprenticeship program or completion of in-company, three year training


program to satisfaction of plant training committee.

Requires varying degree of working to precision tolerances where amount of damage can be
considerable.

High degree of attention required to prevent injury to self and others.

Performs heavy maintenance work involving climbing, rigging, and exposure to high pressure
steam and cold.
