Our group decided to choose the topic of the Japanese Internment camps because we wanted to be
on the topic of World War II but wanted to focus more on what was going on in the pacific and with
Japan. We were sort of torn between Pearl Harbor and the Japanese Internment Camps but felt that we
had more information on the camps as it was a topic that went on for a longer period of time as well. Our
topic is important because it occurred during an important time in history that tested Americas strength.
Most of our sources that we used were from the databases ABC-CLIO and Google Scholar as
they had a wide variety of media that we were able to use in our website. We didn't have a person that
helped us throughout our project as a reference. We had found a source from ABC-Clio that explained us
the Civil Liberties Act of 1988 and went into more specific detail on how long and the process it took to
go through. Another source that helped us explained the Executive Order 9066 and was similar to the one
that explained the Civil Liberties Act of 1988. These helped us with the main aspect of our project and
mainly with the main events and the Triumph and Tragedy.
We had a difficulty looking for a primary source of a video that gave some information that was
necessary and would be easier to show then it would be to explain. We also had trouble at first with the
original making of the website as we had problems editing and communicating as well as later on we
realized how easier our lives would've been if we had done it more often from the start.
Our topic fits into this year's’ theme because it is an excellent example of a tragedy being the
internment camps and the triumph was the economic reward they got although it was late. This topic is
very important for the fact that it caused a great controversy in its day and how it dragged America into
another world war when it wasn't in a good position to enter a world war and ruin the lives of many
Japanese-Americans that called this place home.

This really helped our final project because this is part of our historical context on how the
