Formwork Design and Load Analysis

This document summarizes the design of formwork for a concrete slab that is 0.4m wide, 1m long, and 0.55m thick using plywood that is 0.01m thick. It calculates the dead load from the wet concrete and plywood, construction live load, and total load. The maximum bending moment is calculated to be 0.024 t.m. Using the section modulus and bending stress, the stress is found to be 14.55 N/mm2 which is less than the permissible stress of 27 N/mm2, so the design is acceptable.

Design of Form work

Design Data
Span of form work = 0.4 m
Width of form work = 1m
Material used = Plywood
Thickness of Plywood = 0.0100 m
Density of Green concrete = 2.6 t/m³
Density of Ply wood = 0.65 t/m³ (IS 4990 : 2011)
Thickness of solid slab = 0.55 m

Load calculation
Dea load due to solid slab concrete = 1.43 t/m
Construction load = 0.40 t/m²
= 0.40 t/m
Self weight of plywood = 0.0065 t/m

Total Load = 1.84 t/m

Maximum Moment = 0.024 t.m

Section Modulus = 1.7E-05 m³
Bending Stress = 1.5E+03 t/m²
= 14.55 N/mm²

Permissible Bending stress = 27 N/mm² Table-2(IS 4990 : 2011)

Hence OK
