Statement of the Problem
This study aims to find out The Effects of Study Habits to the Academic Performance
of Grade 12-Confucius in Goldenstate College.
It also aimed to answer the following questions:
1. The demographic profile of respondents according to :
A. Gender C. Income E. No. of children in the family
B. Age D. Residence F. Family status
2. What are the study habits of the students who are actively performing?
3. What are the study habits of the students who are poorly performing?
4. What are the effects of study habits to the academic performance of the students?
5. What intervention program shall be implemented to assist students with study habit
problems?
Objectives
● To be able to find out the demographic profile of the respondents according to their
Gender, Age, Income, Residence, No. of children in the family and Family status.
● To be able to find out the study of the students who are actively performing.
●To be able to find out what are the study habits of the students who are poorly
performing.
●To be able to find out the effects of study habits to the academic performance of the
students.
● To be able to find out what intervention programs shall be implemented to assist
students with study habit problems.
Hypothesis
Ho. Study Habits has no significant influence on students’ Academic Performance.
H1. Study Habits has a significant influence on students’ Academic Performance.
Significance of the Study
The researcher believes that students, particularly Goldenstate College will be
benefited from the findings of this study since the study provides basis for awareness and
better understanding of how their current study habits affected their academic
performance. Likewise gives them more focused and clear perspective on how the
specific behavior related to their studies influenced by study habits.
To School Administrators a basis for developing programs that will aim at improving
students’ study habits to help the students improve their academic performance and their
overall outlook on learning.
To Teachers will also helped in understanding better the diversity of learning of their
students. As such it is hope that they could developed more effective methodologies in
teaching their subject matter.
To Guidance and Counseling Centre Will also be helped in by this study through
providing a more focused and factual knowledge on their factors affecting students study
habits. This increased the understanding of the guidance and councilors on the interplay
of the variables studied in this research. Such knowledge is hope to help the guidance
counseling practitioners towards the development and implementation of more effective
programs in consideration of these variables.
To Future Researchers a guidance which will serve as a basis for their further studies
regarding this topic.
Scope and Delimitations
The scope of the research are the Grade 12-Confucious in Goldenstate College.
The study is delimited to those students that are currently enrolled at Goldenstate
College and is having the prescribe study for a given semester. This study considered
only Goldenstate College and the students of it. This may have an effect of the
generalizability of the study and its findings. However its findings, at least some portion
and extent of it may still hold true to the other school processing the same characteristics
or adhering to the same educational vision, mission and objective of the students of
Goldenstate College.
Definition of Terms
Academic Performance- used for students based on how well they are doing in their
studies and classes.
Develop- Refers to fast or gradual changes in a range of time.
Factors-These refers to anything that affects study habits.
Goldenstate Students- referring to all officially enrolled students in Goldenstate College.
Grade 12 Confucius – It refers to the section of Senior High School of Goldenstate
College, the respondent of the study.
Study Habits- Refers to ways of studying of the respondents in a particular subjects.
