TOEFL Test Structure and Timing

Task 2 – choose one alternative and support the answer; (15s- prep.; 45s- speech)
Task 3 – read the announcement (45s) and express one’s opinion presented in the audio; (30s- prep.; 60s- speech)
Task 4 – read the passage (45s) and support it with the empirical information from the audio; (30s- prep.; 60s-
speech)
Task 5 – listen to the audio and describe the problem, the suggested solutions and that that you prefer most; (30s-
prep.; 60s- speech)
Task 6 – listen to the audio and present the summary of the given information (30s- prep.; 60s- speech)

Writing 50 minutes 2 tasks 0-30


Task 1 – integrated essay – read the text (3 min), listen to the audio on the same topic, and write the summary of
ideas with corresponding details (150-225 words); no personal opinion expressed in the essay; (20 min for
writing)
Task 2 – independent essay – write the essay on the given topic according to the requirements and structure of the
academic essay; (30 minutes)
