CHAPTER 3

METHODS OF RESEARCH AND PROCEDURES

This chapter discusses the different procedures of research such as

Research Design, Determination of Sample Size, Sampling Design and

Technique, The Subjects, The Research Instruments, Data Gathering Procedure,

Data Processing Method, Research Environment and Statistical Treatment.

These procedures will help the researchers to formulate our findings.

Research Design:

The researcher used the descriptive-survey in which they used

dichotomous type of questionnaire to be able to gather data which will be

answered by male and high school students. In this type of research design and

survey questionnaire the researchers would like to focus only in knowing the

main factor that affects their behavior.

Determination of Sample Size:

The researchers chose to use the Stratified Sampling in which they will get

the total number of students in each section and they will multiply it to the desired

percentage of respondents.

The Subject:

The researchers will conduct their survey on first year, second year, third

year and fourth year high school students.


Sampling Technique:

The researchers have chosen the Stratified Sampling to determine on how

many respondents they will need. The desired percentage of students are 30 %.

The researchers have followed a certain formula to be able to obtain the desired

number of respondents.

Research Instrument:

The researchers would be using survey questionnaire as their mode of

research instrument. Also to accumulate enough information the researchers

would be using the power of media such as television news and newspaper.

Data Gathering:

The researchers will be conducting a survey in all year level of high school

department. As stated in their research instrument they will be using the power of

media to accumulate sufficient data. The data which will be gathered will undergo

thorough understanding which will help the research in their study.

Data Processing Method:

The researchers will input their data using tables, after putting it in a

tabular form the researchers will tally the data accumulated.

Validation of Research Instrument:

The researchers have consulted their mentor as well as other teachers for

revision and better understanding of their thesis study. They were also allowed

by the department heads to conduct their survey around the high school

premises.

Statistical Treatment:

The researchers will be using the mode as their statistical treatment.
