Racquetball Life
All my life I was a considered a sportsman person. When I was just a little kid I
practiced karate. I was good at it, but, my mom did not like karate so much. She felt stressed
when she went to see me fight in tournaments, so for that reason, she took me out. I was
disappointed at that time, but then she put me in a sport called racquetball. At first, I do not
like it so much, but over time, I began to appreciate it. In my adolescence, my life was
racquetball, I trained from Monday to Friday every week. I considered racquetball was a
turning point in my life because with it I traveled to different countries, became more
responsible and began to choose my priorities.
When I started to play racquetball, I just played few tournaments at the club. With the
pass of the time I began to play interclub and provincial tournaments. When I won the
provincial tournaments, I qualified to the nationals. This was my first travel in this sport. In
this tournament, the level was extremely high so I couldn’t win in my first national, but when
I grew up, my experience and performance helps a lot to finished in a good position. These
achievements allowed me to participate in the Junior World Championship, which was held
in Cali Colombia. This was my first international tournament. After that I played another
competition in Dominican Republic and in The United States.
Also, racquetball made me a responsible person. I believe that, because when I was in
school and I practiced all days I needed to schedule my time for not have problems with
homework’s. My days started at 2:15 p.m., when I left school and ended at 9: 30 when I
finished my training session. After that, I went to my house and began doing my
homework’s. At first, it was hard because I ended up so tired, but with the passage of the
time it became a routine. These responsibilities help me a lot in the university to be able to
organize myself and not waste my time on anything.

For last racquetball made me have to choose priorities. I considered it an important
point because this formed my character. When I used to train, sometimes I had a party or a
hang out before a tournament. So, I considered training was more important for me, so I
canceled the parties and hang outs if I had a tournament or a match the day after. Also, when
I party I never drink or smoke because it hurts my body and ruins all the physical process that
I did before.
In conclusion racquetball was an excellent decision in my life. Despite having to train
hard for a long time. I won a lot of tournaments, made great friends in and out of the courts. I
considered a turning point in my life, because it forms my character, makes me a responsible
person and the travels that this sport gives to me, are unique experiences for me. So, I’m
grateful with racquetball.
