Strength Classification and Data Processing Questions

The document contains 7 questions from James regarding the classification of strength values, determining the condition index category for structural elements, understanding and applying an equation, why the number of elements differ between structures, the types of elements represented, processing visual inspection data, and the relative weights assigned to structures.

Good Afternoon Mr.

Nikhil

This is my following question:

1.I want to ask how do you classify LB and UB value for strength?

2. in table 2, for strength categories in CI (condition index) 2 and 3 LB values and UB are strips,
so how will I be able to determine an element to enter in CI 2 or 3?

3. Can you give me example, in using the formula in equation 4, I don't understand your
explanation for this equation

4. why is the number of elements for structures A (12), B (20) and C (23) different? How to
know the elemen are representative or not?

5. Are the types of elements here are same (like all beam or all column) or the element here is
a mix of beams, columns, etc.?
This is all Beam element? Or this is mix of beam, column, etc? or this is only
the point of damage in the building?

6. how do you process visual inspection data, so that it can generate data values in table 3

7. Why are the relative weight equal to all elements , for each structure? Is there a reference to
the relative weight table? Why is the structure of A relative weight 0.2 but in structure B 0.25

james
