E-tournament Event Proposal

Event Overview
A Mobile Legends E-Tournament will be held at Building 1 ICT Room. In this event,
students are expected to compete against each other to win a game. This event is an opportunity
for students to gain confidence and become more socially-open and aware to others and gain
cooperation. While this might be a different event than the others we have before, this event will
be more effective since it will be an attention attractor to the students. On this event, students
are expected to test their teamwork, cooperation, and strategical ability on this first ever
E-tournament
The mechanics of this game is simple. A team of 5 and the opposite team will choose a
hero to fight in a 3-lane map. Before starting a game, players will need to choose their heroes
wisely for them to have an effective plan on winning. In this game, there is this thing which is
called the nexus where the team will fight against each other, to protect the nexus and at the
same time destroying the opposite team’s nexus. But before destroying the nexus, the team will
need to take down the 3 turrets first that protects the turret from being destroyed. Each
participant must bring their own cellphone. The device will not be provided by the school nor the
organizers
The players of the game will be the ones who volunteered themselves to be a player of
the game and will fight as a team. The choosing of the final team will be chosen based on the
winner of the elimination stages:
1. Per section elimination stage
2. Best of two section elimination stage
3. Semi-Finals
4. Finals

On this event, winners are expected to receive a prize pool (will be based on the fund)
and a trophy that came from the event’s fund while the rest of the players are expected to receive
a certificate of participation. At the end of this event, students are expected to be more
competitive, more confident and to be more social to people around them.
Support and funds for this event are provided by SJCHS alumni and voluntary solicits from
the students.

Background Information
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game designed
for mobile phones (but also can be played on the PC with an Android/iOS emulator). The two
opposing teams fight to reach and destroy the enemy's base while defending their own base for
control of a path, the three "lanes" known as "top", "middle" and "bottom", which connects the
bases. In each team, there are five players who each control an avatar, known as a "hero", from
their own device. Weaker computer-controlled characters, called "minions", spawn at team bases
and follow the three lanes to the opposite team's base, fighting enemies and turrets.
This event has been already pursued to other schools to promote social communication
and cooperation to the students. While yes, this might be a new and different event, this event
has a large potential to be successful and effective among the students because of the present
generation. This event has also been pursued on other countries especially the United States,
Japan, and Korea. The events that have been made we’re all successful at reaching its objectives.

Teams should focus on strategic elements such as hero selection, lane control, and teamwork coordination to enhance their chances of winning. Effective hero selection can provide team advantages in specific matchups, while superior lane control is necessary to protect their nexus and push towards the opponent's base. Clear communication and coordinated team actions are crucial for overcoming obstacles and capitalizing on opponents' weaknesses .

Tournament prizes and participation certificates play a motivational role in achieving the event's objectives by rewarding competitive excellence and encouraging broad participation. The prize pool and trophies incentivize students to engage more fully and strive for success, while certificates recognize effort and involvement, thus supporting the objectives of boosting confidence and promoting competitiveness .

Hosting an E-Tournament like Mobile Legends in a school environment can have several socio-economic implications. On the positive side, it can provide equal opportunities for socialization and self-confidence building among students. However, the requirement for personal devices might exclude students from lower socio-economic backgrounds, potentially leading to inequality in participation. Funding from alumni and voluntary contributions may offset some costs but does not address device accessibility .

The introduction of a Mobile Legends E-Tournament could impact the school culture positively by fostering an inclusive environment where students from different backgrounds collaborate and compete, thereby breaking down social barriers. It could also promote a culture of strategic and analytical thinking. Conversely, it may accentuate differences in technology access, potentially leading to social divisions if not managed inclusively .

The success of Mobile Legends E-Tournaments in various contexts is evidenced by their implementation in multiple schools and countries such as the United States, Japan, and Korea, where they have successfully met their objectives of fostering social communication and cooperation among students .

Participants in the Mobile Legends E-Tournament must provide their own mobile devices, as they are not supplied by the school or organizers. This requirement could affect participation as not all students may have access to suitable devices, which might lead to exclusion based on economic circumstances .

Participating in an E-Tournament like Mobile Legends can improve a student's ability to work in teams by providing practical experience in collaboration and strategic planning. Students must function effectively as a unit to achieve their common goal of winning, which involves assigning roles, communicating strategies, and making collective decisions under competitive pressure. This active teamwork approach can enhance their cooperative skills and readiness for group challenges .

The format of the Mobile Legends E-Tournament aids in achieving its educational goals by requiring students to form teams of five, which encourages teamwork and cooperation. During the matches, students must strategize to protect their nexus while aiming to destroy the opponent's, enhancing strategic and tactical skills. This setup fosters socialization as students communicate and collaborate closely, while competitive scenarios help build confidence .

The main objectives of organizing the Mobile Legends E-Tournament in schools are to develop students' socialization and communication skills, boost their self-confidence, promote competitiveness and tactical skill development, and encourage effective teamwork .

The structure of the Mobile Legends game, featuring strategic elements such as lane control and nexus destruction, facilitates educational objectives by requiring players to engage in tactical thinking, planning, and teamwork. These elements are directly aligned with objectives like developing tactical skills, promoting competitiveness, and enhancing communication among team members .
