Detailed Lesson Plan in Teaching Listening
I. Objective
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
Be able to identify the speakers either in a discourse or in simple
monologue.

Teacher Students
A. Pre-Listening
I have here pictures of different people practicing a
certain profession.
Pastes pictures on the board.
What comes into your mind when you hear, say for Disease! Patient! Hospital!
example, a doctor? Stethoscope! Cure!
Yes, true. How about a fireman? Fire! Water! Hose! Fire truck!
Certainly! How about a teacher? What comes into Lesson! Students! Blackboard!
your mind when you hear the word ‘teacher’? Score!
So those are the things you remember or relate with
those people practicing the profession I have just
mentioned.
If you can’t see me now and you hear me say, “I’m
sorry, ma’am. The patient seems really weak for me
to continue the operation.” Who do you think I am? A doctor!
Yes! Very good, class! So you use your schema to
identify the speaker. Once you have concluded who
the speaker is, you confirm your conclusion by relating
your schema of the speaker further to the utterance
Yes, ma’am!

B. While-Listening
Very well. Now let us try if you can identify the
speaker of the lines I’ll be reading. The pictures I
have posted on the board will serve as your choices.
Write your answers on a ¼ sheet of paper. Ready? Yes, ma’am!

monologues. I want you to make a dialogue between
any of the professionals I have posted on the board.
You shall have ten minutes to prepare and two
minutes to perform. After each skit, your classmates
