Module 3: Set Up Your Traffic Net
Welcome to this module of the email list building course. My name is Bob The Teacher, the
Marke=ng Educator here at LeadPages®. This module is all about building your traffic net. In order
for you to be able to nurture your leads and convert them into customers, you need to first acquire
them as a subscriber to your list. We talk a lot about this in our LeadPages® system all the =me.
We're just going to touch on it briefly here. Let's go ahead and jump into it right now.
I've designed this par=cular module to lay out the steps for a traffic net so it can be the most
effec=ve at turning your website visitors into leads. I also want to show you a few conversion
strategies to op=mize your opt-‐in rates and inject a viral component into your list building for faster
subscriber growth. This module is focused on the first third of your email list building plan, where
we're going to be turning your visitors into subscribers by giving them great content on your blog,
excellent content in landing pages, and then making sure they convert on those thank you pages to
become subscribers.
When you set up a traffic net like this, you'll be able to target your blog visitors, your landing page
visitors, but also your in-‐store patrons and even audience members during stage presenta=ons. I'll
be talking to you about a special conversion tool we have for that here at LeadPages® here in a bit,
but the first thing you want to ask yourself is “why won't they sign up?” Of course, they're going to
be saying yes to your lead magnet offer, which could be a resource guide, an audio program, a
video, or a checklist, but you can be even more crea=ve. In fact, one of my favorite lead magnets
that I've ever given away personally was a spreadsheet. The key is to try out different things and
see which one works the best.
Remember the curriculum that you established in the last module. The lead magnets are a
substan=al step forward toward your primary product or service. Create a variety of lead magnets
to accelerate the growth of your list, but always be on the lookout for geUng people to sign up for
your primary product or service.
When it comes to capturing the interest of your blog readers, you're going to want to give them
the opportunity to sign up on the sidebar, as well as using content upgrades in your most popular
posts. Don't forget that your blog also has a footer where you can have an addi=onal opt-‐in
opportunity if you'd like to.
Make sure that all of your opt-‐in opportuni=es are connected to your email service provider via a
web form, and/or your list. You can do this on your own with whatever tools your email service
provider gives to you. However, at LeadPages® we have a special tool for this called LeadBoxes®.
LeadPages® Email List Building Course -‐ Module 3 Transcripts | Bob Jenkins 2
What I'd like to do now is show you just how fast it is to set something like this up on your own
website.
Come into the dashboard and click on LeadBoxes®. Choose 'create new LeadBox™'. Connect your
LeadBox™ to your email service provider and the appropriate web form. Then you can quickly
customize the form, changing the thank you page to where you want people to go a_er they
submit their informa=on, what you want your LeadBox™ to say, swap out your image, change your
Call-‐to-‐Ac=on buaon, including the text and the buaon color. You can choose to send a lead
magnet out directly from LeadBoxes® if you'd like to, by selec=ng a file you've already uploaded to
our system.
We'll give the LeadBox™ a name, and save the LeadBox™. To put it on our website, we'll click
'publish', and choose between a plain text link, buaon, or image that people will click on in order to
trigger the opt-‐in form. Super-‐easy to upload a new image from your computer. We'll save the
changes, and then copy the resul=ng LeadBox™ code. Go into a WordPress post and insert the
code in the appropriate place. Then update the page. In just that short amount of =me, you now
have an opt-‐in form to serve as your traffic net.
Because your LeadBox™ is a two-‐step opt-‐in instead of a tradi=onal web form, you can actually put
mul=ple LeadBoxes® on the same page without being obnoxious. For example, on our blog, we
have our LeadBox™ here. We have another one here in the sidebar. We have two more to register
people for webinars. As you scroll down, we have another one for featuring people on the blog,
and at the boaom of every post we have a four-‐step tutorial lead magnet that we'd love to give
away. As I men=oned, in the footer, you may also want to have addi=onal LeadBoxes®, as it's a
great way to expand your traffic net.
Your traffic net should also capture interest of landing page traffic, drive traffic to landing pages
through social media, partnerships and paid adver=sing. Then incen=vise the people who land on
this landing page to opt-‐in for a lead magnet. You can use this strategy whether you're a
LeadPages® customer or not, but if you are a LeadPages® customer, it becomes that much faster
and easier, and you'll increase your opt-‐in conversions. Let me show you how to set this up inside
of LeadPages®.
Inside of the LeadPages® dashboard, you can choose from over a hundred different templates. You
can even sort by category and conversion rate. You can use the built-‐in split tes=ng tool to see
which one works best for you. This basic squeeze page remains an all-‐=me favorite, and it's super-‐
fast to set up. Simply swap out the images, and hide the ones that you might not want. Edit your
text simply by clicking and typing. Make sure to use the exis=ng text in all of our templates as a
guide for what to say.
Change your buaon text and connect your Call-‐to-‐Ac=on buaon to your list. Customize the form
like I showed you before, including the images, the buaons. You can quickly change the color
simply by changing the styles. Then you can name your page and give your page a link for the
internet. Save your page and it's now live online.
With LeadPages® you can publish the page to the LeadPages® server, toward your own
WordPress site, or even on Facebook. Our Pro and Advanced users can even use the built-‐in split
tes=ng tool to ensure op=mal conversions. For example, switching out the background image may
have a drama=c effect on conversions. You can be confident that all of your landing pages built
with LeadPages® will work beau=fully on tablets, and phones, because all of our templates are
100% mobile responsive without you having to do anything extra.

Next, you'll want to use a viral thank you page to drive even more traffic. What this does is it helps
establish the rela=onship with your new subscribers, so you make sure that they are opening your
emails and responding to you. Plus, it turns every new subscriber into an ambassador for your free
gi_. By giving your new subscribers the ability to share their free gi_ with their social connec=on
on Facebook, Twiaer, and other social media channels, you expand the reach of your message that
much faster.
Let me show you how to set this up inside of LeadPages® in just a few minutes, instead of was=ng
=me trying to figure it out on your own or wai=ng for a developer to get back to you.
We'll select one of the thank you pages and customize this page, including the headline, sub-‐
headline, and the social sharing buaons. Remember that by puUng in this link to the social sharing
buaons, you're sharing the original opt-‐in page, not this thank you page. You can hide any elements
that you don't want. Remember to change the color scheme to match your branding. Name your
thank you page and give it a URL, and then save that page.
As with any LeadPage™, it's super-‐fast to publish it to your own WordPress site in one, two, three
and four clicks. You can publish any single LeadPage™ to one of your Facebook tabs. Click 'add to
Facebook page'. Then choose your Facebook page and add the page tab. The result will look
something like this, where you have a tab for your free gi_ and it fits nicely inside of your Facebook
page.
People can simply opt-‐in by clicking on your LeadBox™. Now your online traffic net is complete.
Your visitors can now opt in to your list with your blog or from landing pages and be taken to your
thank you page.
If your company happens to have a store, or you speak from stage a lot, you'll want to aaract live
audiences and in-‐store traffic to your list. At LeadPages®, we do this through the power of
LeadDigits™, which is included in all of our Advanced plans. Any=me your audience is not near
their computers, such as in your store, at live events, socials, or listening to podcasts or aaending a
chamber of commerce mee=ng, you can have them subscribe to your list via SMS, and the lead
magnet you want to offer them can be delivered straight to their inbox, including any coupon
codes, PDFs, or even slides of a presenta=on. Now let me show you how to set up this part of your
traffic net inside of LeadPages®.
You'll click on 'LeadDigits™", then 'create new LeadDigit™'. Choose the country of your audience
from the United States, the U.K., Canada, or Australia, and then a corresponding number. If your
audience is here in the United States, use the short code 33444. Then select your unique text
iden=fier. If you're a bar or a restaurant, try using 'free drink' as your unique text iden=fier. Include
a custom message to get your patron to opt in. Click 'con=nue', and then choose what happens
when they opt in, including receiving a no=fica=on about each person who joins your list. Add
them to your email list. Register them for a webinar or even send them a Lead Magnet.
In the case of a bar or restaurant, include the coupon code in your message. Be sure to include
your personality in that message to aaract that ideal audience. Once you've claimed that
LeadDigit™, it's yours to use for as long as you like.
SeUng up this traffic net is a crucial step toward your email list-‐building campaign. Now that
you've got it set up, you're ready for your auto-‐responders and your broadcast, which is coming up
in the next module. Before you go one to module four, however, I want to invite you to get started
with LeadPages® now, so you can get higher opt-‐in rates on your landing pages, and op=mize your

blog post for list building. You can get access to over a hundred free templates plus over a hundred
premium templates, and get your traffic net created within an hour, instead of weeks.
At LeadPages® you can create an unlimited number of pages, get an unlimited amount of traffic to
them, and publish your pages on as many domains as you'd like. All of our membership levels come
with a 30-‐day guarantee, and you can use LeadPages® and LeadBoxes® to grow your list. Simply
go to [Link]/listspecial for a very special offer for being part of this course.
When you're ready, head over to Module 4 and I'll break down the differences of auto-‐responders
