Reflection:
If you want to be accepted by someone, you need to be tested into
different series of challenges in order for you to be recognized. In this story,
I realize that the girl, Maria, wants to be accepted by the father of Noel and
loves Noel from head to toe via point of view of a young boy. I can relate
this scene into the Spanish period; where the boy courts the lady with the
presence of her family via song (harana) because the boy wants his love to
be recognized by the lady and her family. In this story, the girl tries her best
to adapt the rural life in order for the father of Noel to accept her. She was
put into different challenges and base on what I have understood on the
point of view of Baldo, she passed the entire test. It still made me curios
whenever Noel’s father accepted Maria or not because the last scene was
Baldo looking at Maria.
