Reflection

Writing has never been my favorite subject to take in school because I have always had a

challenging time. English is my second language so trying to get words on paper is hard for me.

Having to take composition 2 was a big fear of mine since I know how difficult writing is for me.

It’s very hard for me to and I struggle to come up with ideas about a topic and I have a tough

time processing my thoughts on paper.

I believe this is my first time having to write a rhetorical analysis on an argument. A

rhetorical analysis on an argument is an analysis on the author’s persuasion techniques. In this

assignment is where I learned on how to communicate effectively. So, I read and studied the

authors writing technique and I had to evaluate his writing.

As I mentioned before writing is not my strongest subject, but I do try to be a good

writer. My writing of this assignment lacked a good thesis statement which I had to go get help

from writing tutors. I also had a tough time writing about the author’s writing techniques. I

would often take a side in the argument and forget that the assignment is to analyses the appeals

the authors uses. I asked for help to improve on my mistakes. I believe that my thesis statements

are better than they were before. I now write my paragraphs with clarity and organization.

I enjoyed and found my instructor’s feedback helpful. Professor Parker advised me to

focus on writing a good thesis statement and keeping my paragraph in order. The writing tutors

at Alvin community college help me with my writing. They helped with my grammar,

punctuation, and good delivery. The writing tutors also helped me to analyze my writing. I

searched for help because there should no excuses as to why I cannot be a good writer. Overall,

I believe my writing skills have improved but I know I need more practice.
