INTEGRATION
E-commerce enables domestic industries and enterprises to integrate into global value chains and to
directly access the global market.

As the host of the APEC meetings for 2015, the Philippines was able to push for the endorsement of the
APEC Action Agenda to Globalize Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs). This Action Agenda
recognizes the important role of ICT and e-commerce to enable MSMEs to access the global market
directly, in addition to being part of global value chains. The DTI has been advocating the strong support
for MSMEs to place them at the front and center of the global trade agenda, not just in APEC but in other
regional and multilateral fora as well, and also in trade negotiations.
