1 EXT. - HOSPITAL - DAY 1
Establishing shot of hospital. JANE, 18, exits the front
door wearing a black and white striped top and black
leggings. She walks down to the pavement, holding an
overnight bag, waiting for a taxi. Jane looks very spaced
out.
The taxi arrives.
The TAXI DRIVER is a middle-aged portly man wearing a flat
cap and plain clothes. He looks very well-kept and the taxi
is clean and uncluttered. He clearly enjoys his job which is
shown by his friendly and talkative personality.
TAXI DRIVER
Hiya, love.

JANE
Hi.
TAXI DRIVER
Alright?

JANE
I guess.
There’s an awkward silence.

TAXI DRIVER
So, I take it by the bag you
weren’t visiting?
JANE
Yeah, I’ve been there for 2 months.
TAXI DRIVER
oh, you alright now?
JANE
Yeah, I just wanted to get away.
TAXI DRIVER
Sorry, for being so forward.
JANE
It’s okay, don’t worry.
TAXI DRIVER
(long pause, visibly awkward)
So, can I ask why you were in
there?

JANE
I was on high dosage meds and had
an episode.
TAXI DRIVER
Oh, okay.
JANE
I didn’t really wanna leave...so I
ended up biting a girl. Only got
another 2 weeks.

TAXI DRIVER
So you’re not a fan of being at
home?
JANE
Not really, I like it in my
bedroom, all my paintings are in
there. That’s the only thing that
I’ve missed.
TAXI DRIVER
Do you live alone?
JANE
I wish... I live with my mother who
thinks being a vegan is the best
thing that’s ever happened to her,
and then... there’s my brother...
TAXI DRIVER
He a nice guy?

JANE
He was in prison.
The taxi driver turns to look at Jane. A car speeds towards
the taxi as they cross a junction they collide. A brief
glance of the other car shows Steven as the driver.

The screen cuts to black.

2 INT. - THE ROOM 2
Jane is in a mysterious dark room. She is strapped to a
chair, with her brother STEVEN sitting opposite her.
Steven, 30, is wearing a plain grey top with jeans, beard
and glasses. His hair is slicked back making it look darker
and more greasy. He has a malicious look on his face as he
stare s at Jane. He appears taller than normal.

Jane starts to regain consciousness and slowly wakes up. She

sees Steven and starts to freak out, realising that she
can’t speak, making her panic more.
STEVEN
Hello Jane. Feeling better?
Jane continues to try and speak but is still unable, There
is a long pause whilst Steven revels in Jane’s look of anger
and fear.

STEVEN
(disgusted by Jane’s actions)
You know, Mother was so worried
about you, and you didn’t even
think to call? I had to put up with
that BITCH crying day in, day
out...and not a word from you.
Selfish, you are one selfish little
girl. You always were.
Steven smiles menacingly.

We see Jane closing her eyes, a tear running down her face,
when she opens her eyes, he is gone.
JANE
(scared)
Hello?!

She stands up and walks rapidly around the room, screaming.

JANE
HELLO?! WHERE AM I?! HELLO!

She starts to cry and sinks to the ground, curling into

herself. Jane is very confused as to why she is in this
black room. She closes her eyes again and Steven appears.
STEVEN
Jane.
Jane jumps and tries to hurry back, as far as she can away
from Steven.
STEVEN
(Smirks)
Oh, did I scare you?
Jane doesn’t even look at Steven.

(CONTINUED)
CONTINUED: 4.

STEVEN
Well fucking hell, love, I’m your
brother for christ sake, shouldn’t
you be happy to see me? You haven’t
seen me in 2 months. I bet you
missed me didn’t you?
Jane continues to cower away.

STEVEN
(Increasingly angry)
DIDN’T YOU?!
He gets right up in her face Steven starts to close the
space between them.

Jane immediately nods her head, terrified.

STEVEN
(with a smug look on his face)
I knew it.

Steven tries to hug Jane, she tenses up and then pushes him
off her, causing Steven to become more angry.
STEVEN
Don’t push me, Jane! I’m sick of
you pushing me away! You know, it
hurts my feelings... and you don’t
want to hurt your brother, do you,
Jane? (Pause) I just want to be
close to you. You remember how
close we used to be? Watching
films, all cuddled up in bed? I did
EVERYTHING to make sure you were
okay when our Father left. I
sacrificed so much for you and
where was my praise? Mother only
cared about how it had affected
you, always asking me to check on
you and WHAT ABOUT ME? You, you,
you. Never me. It’s clear who the
favourite was.

Jane still looks timid.

STEVEN
All I’ve done is try to protect
you. That boy, Jimmy whatever, you
came home crying to mother, saying
he’d been bullying you. So I
handled it, I’m not seeing ANY
thank you. I went to PRISON for
you!

(CONTINUED)

Jane starts to cry again and looks sad.

Everything is silent, Jane is sat there crying while Steven
is staring at her.
Steven begins to laugh.

STEVEN
Do you remember IT?
Jane nods but looks scared.

STEVEN
Thought you would... Bit different
from the book, at the end they all
fuck Beverly... Huh I wonder if her
legs were as soft as yours?

Steven touches Jane’s legs. Jane knocks his hand off and
starts to freak out.
STEVEN
Stop doing that! Stop freaking out.
It’s so annoying.
Steven takes a breath to calm himself down and recollect his
thoughts.
STEVEN
You’re gonna wanna stop pissing me
off. I am control in here. I can do
anything in here. I can do anything
I want to you.
Steven grabs Jane’s hair and violently pulls her towards
him.
STEVEN
(whispers)
Are your legs still soft?

Jane catches Steven off guard and pushes him away, shaking
with terror.
STEVEN
You’re gonna regret that!

Steven disappears into the black background and the noise of

a crowd slowly becomes audible, but is still alone. Jane
stands as she looks around frantically for the source of
voices, beginning to panic. A group of people dressed as
clowns start to emerge from the darkness. They are talking
to each other the but the audio is muffled so you can’t

understand what they are saying. Jane starts to freak out

again and tries to talk to one member of the crowd but none
of them are acknowledging her.

JANE
Who are you?! Why are you here?!
The crowd continues to talk over her and walk closer to her.
As they come closer, they form a circle around her. They
make Jane feel claustrophobic causing her to sink to the
floor with her head in her hands, screaming with fear. As
the crowd continues to talk, she hears the TV turn on, as
the crowd is still talking she is able to climb through
their legs to get to the TV. The TV picture is static and
suddenly changes to a shot of her mother from Jane’s
perspective. Jane is lying in a hospital bed. Jane grabs the
TV as she sees her mother. She looks lost and confused
3 INT. - HOSPITAL ROOM - DAY 3
MARTHA, 46, is wearing a floral top with black legging. Her
hair is tied up in a messy bun and her eyes are red and
puffy, it’s clear to see she has been crying.
Martha is stands looking at Jane, she is extremely worried.
The DOCTOR walks in holding a clipboard, looking through the
notes. She is in her mid thirties with blonde hair.
DOCTOR
Good afternoon, I’m Doctor Dubec
and I’ll be looking after Jane for
the next few days.
The Doctor shakes Martha’s hand.
MARTHA
Hello Doctor, lovely to meet you

Doctor Dubec walks over to Jane and has a look at her

monitor and takes notes.
DOCTOR
How are we feeling today?

MARTHA
Worried. The nurse said you had
some questions for me?
DOCTOR
(Ushers her to sit down)
Oh yes, just a few. Can you just
confirm your date of birth please?

MARTHA
1st May 1972
DOCTOR
(Takes a seat as he’s/she’s
talking)
Lovely, thank you. Okay, just so I
can have some background, what was
the cause of her mental health
because I see it started when she
was quite young.

MARTHA
It all started when her and her
brother’s father left. She was 5,
he was 16, they both took it quite
hard. But they found comfort in
each other and became very close...
As Martha says this the TV screen cuts back to static.
4 INT. - THE ROOM 4

Jane looks at the TV very con fussed, trying to push the

buttons to see her Mother again.
5 INT. - JANE’S BEDROOM - DAY - FLASHBACK 5
Jane (5 years old) is sat with Steven (16 years old) on the
floor hugging.
Jane is wearing black leggings and a colourful top, Steven
is wearing a nerdy top with jeans.
Steven rubs Jane’s hair to comfort her as she’s looking sad.

STEVEN
Hey, I know what we can do!
Jane’s head shoots up.

JANE
What?
STEVEN
Let’s play dress up.

JANE
Yeah!
STEVEN
(smiles)
Get all your clothes off then.

(CONTINUED)

Jane starts to take off her clothes, as she does this she
camera pans away from her. Steven is just sat there staring
at her.
JANE
Ow!
Steven slightly shakes his head to get out of his trance.
Shot of Jane tangled up in her princess dress, Steven helps
her with her dress, and caresses her arm. He gives her a
kiss on the cheek.

6 INT. - THE ROOM - END OF FLASHBACK 6

Jane looks down and sees she is wearing the dress from her
flashback. Jane pulls back from the TV and realises she is
in her mind and can say what she wants to Steven and that he
can’t hurt her. Steven only has power over her if she let’s
him.
JANE
(Slow, reminiscing)
The dress. That...princess
dress...I was five...I was...
Fuck you Steven. You’re sick.
You’re so sick and if you don’t see
it I don’t think you ever will.

I can’t...I can still feel...your

hands and you, the way you looked
when you touched me and all of the
little...fucking creepy shit you...
(Sudden realisation)
And I’m not scared of you anymore.
..I’m not scared. You can’t hurt me
anymore, you’ve already done
everything...there’s nothing left
to surprise me. You’ve violated
every fibre of my fucking body and
I hate you, I hate that you’re my
brother because you’re so twisted
and I hate that no one else can see
it! Fuck you! You took every inch
of whatever childhood I might have
had and turned it into a nightmare
I had to live in for YEARS! FUCK
YOU!
Steven shrinks to his actual size, as opposed to how Jane
viewed him before.

Jane hurries towards the TV which shows her POV from the
hospital bed which shows her Mother and Steven. She holds
the TV.
JANE
I’m going to make this right.
Jane turns off the TV and the screen fades
7 INT. - HOSPITAL ROOM - DAY 7

(In this scene there is no audio, as the scene plays the

music gets louder)
Jane is in her hospital room, she wakes up. Martha rushes to
her side and starts to cry with happiness. Steven fakes a
smile but keeps his distance, he is obviously angry at
Jane’s recovery. The music is louder than the audio in the
scene but it’s clear that the tone changes as Jane starts to
come clean about what Steven really does. Jane starts to
point and shout inaudibly and her Mother looks horrified at
Steven. The Doctor calls the police.
