Electrical Method Statement for Installation
The key steps include carrying out measurement and detail work surveys, procuring electrical materials and field devices, shipping materials to the site, mobilizing to the site, conducting HSE induction and raising PTWs, isolating supply lines, constructing cable tray base plates, laying earth cables, installing control panels, performing loop-testing, calibrating field devices, integrating systems, and conducting pre-commissioning and commissioning .
HENMAK is responsible for ensuring scaffolding is pre-mobbed, certified, and stable. Experienced personnel must set it up, and it must be at a level, with the stoppers firmly grounded. Safety harnesses must be functional and used by all personnel working above 1.8 meters, in compliance with safety standards .
The procedures required include inspecting the cable route, disconnecting and dismantling obsolete and disused cables, reinstalling and testing cables removed during construction, and properly testing reconnected lamps with a meter tester to ensure functionality .
Loop-testing and calibration are essential to ensure that field devices are correctly installed, communicate with control systems, and meet operational specifications. Calibrating the devices guarantees accuracy in measuring and controlling processes, while loop-testing verifies the integrity and functionality of wire connections in the system .
HENMAK ensures safety during height works by using pre-mobbed and certified functional scaffolding systems, mandating the use of safety harnesses, and ensuring that experienced personnel man the scaffolding. The structure must also be stable and on level ground .
To mitigate electrical shock risks, HENMAK obtains equipment outages authorization, ensures earth line connections at all disconnection points, inspects for voltage leakage, attaches DANGER notices, and uses multimeters to confirm circuits are dead before work begins. Personal protective equipment must be worn at all times .
Project authorization and decisions are documented through the approval signatures of key project personnel including the Project Engineer, Managing Director, and Contract Owner. Each significant step, from procurement to commissioning, involves documented permits, certificates, and authorizations to ensure accountability and compliance with standards .
The integration and commissioning sequence includes system integration, pre-commissioning tasks such as testing and inspection, and full commissioning, which involves testing all installations, checking continuity, and ensuring all electronic and mechanical characteristics meet expected performance criteria .
Certificates are required to verify standard compliance and validate equipment operation for safety and effectiveness. An authorized person from BEAM Energy Limited must provide approvals for switching operations, ensuring the integrity of the system and aligning with safety protocols .
HENMAK ensures secure earth connections by obtaining the necessary work area outage authorizations, strictly adhering to testing protocols such as voltage leakage checks, confirming all earth leads are properly terminated, and reporting any defects for immediate action and replacement .
