Chapter 2
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This chapter will show the research design, the sampling techniques,
research instrument data gathering procedures and statistical treatment used in
interpreting the results of the survey questions.
Research Design
The study will adopt a descriptive research design that will aim to discover
the work readiness of 2018 ABM students. Direct survey is going to be conducted
to gather the needed information.
The descriptive research will attempt to measure, explain and interpret
conditions of the present “what is”. The purpose of a descriptive research will be to
examine a phenomenon that is occurring at a specific place(s) and time. A
descriptive research will be concerned with conditions, practices, structures,
differences or relationship that exist, opinions held process that are going on or
trends that are evident.
Population and Sampling Techniques
The survey population will be comprised of 2018 ABM Students in Selected
School in San Pablo City, Laguna. The study will be focusing only on the readiness
of the students in accounting, financial and basic skills. Based on the list that the
researchers will made for the expected population, out of few schools in San Pablo
City, Laguna, they are able to get 30 respondents for each school for the reasons
that we will be using random sampling that is why there is no need of getting all of
them as a respondents.
The researchers plan to conduct a personal interview with video recording, if
necessary, with the student and at the same time another setoff written
questionnaire will be given to the respondents.
The researchers will be using a complete enumeration technique in
conducting the study.
Research Procedure
The researchers will ask for the permission to conduct the study from 2018
ABM students. The researchers will made questionnaire that will be used for
gathering the needed data. The data that will be collected from this will be
tabulated, organized and group accordingly. After organizing the results, the
researchers will analyze and interpret the result of the survey to generate a useful
conclusion.
Research Instrument
The main instrument that will be used by the researchers is a survey
questionnaire and this will be supplied to ABM students in San Pablo City, Laguna.
The survey questionnaire will ask for socio-demographic information and will
consist of questions to evaluate their job readiness.
Statistical Tools
Frequency count this measures the number of times that an event occurs.
Percentage this expresses the relative frequency of survey responses and other
data.
Pearson Product Moment Correlation this is to determine the strength of
relationship between the foundational skills to work readiness and work
competencies to work readiness.
Data Gathering Instrument
The contradicting views about the senior high graduates as job-ready will
pave way to the researchers to test the job readiness of students on the small
portion of Laguna.
The researchers will ask for permission from the selected schools to
conduct the necessary survey. The survey will be in a written form and will be
distributed to the subjects on their available time. The questionnaires will be given
back to us and the answered contents will be deemed confidential.
