Y.E. Smith Elementary's mission is to foster a caring and supportive learning environment that promotes high expectations, active student participation, and parental involvement to enable all children to be global learners. The Mission Statement for Y.E.

Smith Elementary:

Our mission is to foster a caring and supportive learning environment that promotes
high expectations, active student participation, and parental involvement, to enable all
children to be global learners.

Y.E. Smith Elementary established the following goals in alignment with the school's
mission statement.

 We will increase overall school proficiency as measured by the End of Grade


Assessments for grade 3-5 from 32% to 50% for 2017-2018. We will increase the
overall college and career readiness as measured by the End of Grade Assessments
for grade 3-5 from 22% to 40% for 2017-2018. 75% of students in grades
Kindergarten - 3rd grade will increase their reading proficiency as measured by the
mClass reading assessment from BOY to MOY. We will increase the overall
attendance rate from 95.6% to 98.0% for 2017-2018

To achieve these goals, Y.E. Smith Elementary has chosen to focus on implementing

ALL teachers employ effective classroom management and reinforce classroom rules and
