Understanding Wave Diffraction in Physics

1. The document outlines a physics lesson plan about diffraction of waves for a Grade 5 class. 2. Students will watch a video about diffraction of waves, write what they learned, and discuss it as a class. 3. The class will then be divided into groups to complete tasks about diffraction, such as labeling diagrams. Students will share their work with other groups and improve their understanding.

NOR DIANA BINTI HASSAN CHAPTER 1

Subject : Date : 19 – 1 -2018 Class : 5 MERAK Topic :

PHYSICS Day : Time : WAVES
WEDNESDAY 7.30 – 9.00 am

Learning Area : Values : Relations Across the Curriculum :

1.0 Cooperative and Science and Technology, Inventions
experimental

Learning Objective : Success Criteria :

1.4 Analysing diffraction of waves A student is able to :

 describe diffraction of waves in terms of

wavelength, frequency, speed, direction of
propagation and shape of waves
 draw a diagram to show diffraction of
waves..

DEVELOPMENT TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS NOTES

Set Induction 1. Teacher shows video about Idea Rush
DIFFRACTION OF WAVES
2. Students are required to write
information about the video in a piece
of paper.
3. Students put the answer sheet in a box
provided.
4. Teacher reads out the answers and
relates to today’s lesson.
Main Activities / 1. Students are divided into 6 groups. HOTs
Development 2. Students completed task given by Conceptualize
teacher. Solving problem
3. Group work is displayed on the table. Experimenting
4. 2 of the students in a group remain at
their table and the other two roam to
another group.
5. On the signal, the ‘Remainers’ share
their work. The ‘Roamers’ listen, ask
questions and add futher ideas.
6. The process is repeated until the
‘Roamers’ return to their table groups.
7. Table groups discuss new ideas from
the ‘Roamers’.
8. Improvements based on comments may
be made to complete the group’s work.

Closing Activity Students are required to produce I-Think map

based on the group’s work in their note book.
