Example solution for conversion

I. Solve the following problem and show your solution.

1. 160ºC to Fahrenheit 2. 212ºF to Centigrade

Solution: Solution:
Given: 160ºC Given: 212º
What to find: Fahrenheit What to find: Centigrade
Formula: ºF = ºC × 1.8 + 32 Formula: ºC = ºF – 32 ÷ 1.8
ºF = 160ºC × 1.8 + 32 ºC = 212ºF – 32 ÷ 1.8
= 320 ºF = 100ºC
3. 2 lb. to grams 4. 6 ¼ C to grams
Solution: Solution:
Given: 2 lb. Given: 6 ¼ C
What to find: grams What to Find: Grams
Formula: 1 lb. = 16 oz. Formula: 1 C = 240 grams
28.35 g = 1 oz. 6 ¼ C × 240
lb. × 16(oz.) × 28.35g. = 1500 grams
2 lb. × 16oz. × 28.35g
= 907 g (round-off)

5. 3 ½ lb. to Cup 6. 1600 grams to C

Solution: Solution:
Given: 3 ½ lb. Given: 1600 g.
What to find: Cup What to Find: Cup
Formula: 1 lb. = 16 oz. Formula: 1 C = 240 grams
1 pt. = 8 oz. 1600 ÷ 240
1 pt. = 2 C = 16 fl. oz. = 6 2/3 C
3 ½ lb. (16 oz.) ÷ 8 oz.
= 7 pint
7 pint × 2 cups
= 14 Cups
