Chapter 4
SUMMARY, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
This chapter presents a summary of the study and its conclusions, and
recommendations.
SUMMARY
This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Educational Videos in
improving the Phonics Recognition of Kindergarten Pupils.
Summary of findings
The findings of the study are the following:
1. The pretest mean score in phonics recognition of kindergarten pupils in
experimental group is 4.00, while in the control group is 3.29. The posttest
mean score in phonics recognition of kindergarten pupils in experimental
group is 4.72, while in the control group is 5.05.
2. There is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest in phonics
recognition of kindergarten pupils in experimental and control groups. This
implies that the experimental group and the control group both improved
significantly in their performance.
3. There is no significant difference between the posttest of the experimental
and control group. The result tells that there is no difference in the
performance of the pupils even when taught traditionally or taught using
educational videos.
CONCLUSION
Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions are drawn;
1. The use of educational videos can improve the performance of learners in
phonics recognition. It is based on the pretest and posttest mean scores of
the pupils in the experimental and control group made a significant
difference.
2. There is no difference in the performance of the pupils taught traditionally
and taught using educational videos. It is based on the posttest between the
experimental and control group made no significant difference.
3. Educational videos cannot replace the teacher in the teaching and learning
process. These are not enough for presenting the lesson. It should be used to
make a connection on the concept being studied in class. Thus, integrating
videos in the lesson with the direct and explicit instruction of the teacher can
maximize the effectiveness of the video and learning.
RECOMMENDATIONS
In line with the findings of the study, the following are recommended:
1. Teachers can use educational videos as an educational tool to support the
advancement of skills specifically the phonics recognition of the students.
