Abstract

This study aims to provide new insights about what can we do more out

of the waste materials. From the waste materials that are being recycled to

produce clay stove blower that can be a big help to the people, especially for

the people in rural areas. The study is designed to showcase the importance of

waste materials and its contribution. The major findings for this study is that it

is already prepared to be use and can be more enhanced by future researchers.

In summing it all, the study will give the future innovators different ideas on

how to help their communities and to innovate things for the better.

Introduction

Cooking or Cookery is considered as form of art. Wherein, people create

different recipes out of their creative hands. Especially the chefs, where they

often quoted that, “Cook with a Heart”. But how to cook with a heart?

Earthen(clay) pot cultures, chefs and cookbook authors, like Paula

Wolfert who introduced America to the Moroccan tagine and is considered the

queen of claypot cooking, swear that unglazed clay vessels give food an earthy

taste and aroma—what Wolfert calls “goût de terroir, a ‘taste of the earth’.” The

statement claims that using clay stove instead of gas stove gives more creativity

in the taste of the food or the what-so-called “… with a Heart cooking”. In the

Philippines, most of Filipino in Rural areas can’t afford to buy a gas stove

instead of using a gas stove they usually do the traditional way using the clay

stove. Primary used in cooking in some rural areas are fire woods that have

been cut. Because of modernization, the clay stoves are replaced by the gas

stoves. Key differences between urban and rural populations can influence the

adoption and impacts of new cooking technologies and fuels. According to the

REACCTING study in Northern Ghana that focuses on the differences among

rural and urban households says that, there are types of stoves and fuels

differ, with urban participants more likely to use charcoal and LPG while rural

households rely primarily on wood. The rural baseline survey (conducted in

completed in November/December 2014. The results presented here are only

for households in which no intervention took place. People prefer to use gas

stoves compared to clay stoves. Gas stoves are easy to use you will adjust its

range while in Clay stoves, you will make effort to make fire in order to cook.

Cooking with a traditional, open stove made out of stones, the woman’s

hands and feet always suffered cuts because of the need to collect firewood

every day, said Muna Eltahir, Country Director for Sudan of Practical

Action. This statement is one of reason why the researchers came up with the

innovation of clay stove blower. Out of the waste materials that can be found at

home, the researches made clay stove blower. Wherein, it can be used to burn

up the charcoals easily with less spending time. In terms of cooking there are

some health benefits that we can get because clay pots doesn’t have poisonous

effects in fact clay stoves can get even more tastier if they cook in there.

Significance of the Study

This study is expected to help the following group of people:

To the People who are using clay stove

This innovation will help them to lessen the difficulty in using of fan or

called the traditional way. Mostly in Provinces, People in their homes tend to

use a fan.

To the Parents

This will benefit to the Parents. Especially when they will wake up at 4

AM in the morning to cook food for their children. It’ll help them to make their

work easier and it can lessen to the other stuffs they needed to do.
To the Science Educators

This innovation will help them to gain knowledge and idea about this

project. The fan blade inside is responsible for giving air through plugging in

the socket and it can also be useful to lessen spending too much money. It can

also help the students to encourage them to be innovators in their future.

To the Future Researchers

This innovation project will served as guide for the future researchers.

This project can be used as their reference to make their study a success.

Materials and Methods (Methodology)

The materials used are:

 Fan blades made from tupper ware

 PVC pipe

 Steel tube

 Charger

 Motor from DVD player

 Portion of a slipper

 Core of a Pen

 Electrical tape
Step 1: From the DVD, the innovators get the motor and placed the core of the

pen in the middle of the motor.

Step 2: From a slipper, it will cut be cut in a circle and will leave a circle at the

centre where the motor will be placed.

Step 3: From a Tupperware, cut 3 same sizes that will be used as fan blades

and put it around the centre of the motor that is placed at the motor.

Step 4: Attach the tube at the PVC pipe.

Step 5: Connect the wires of motor in the wires of the charger to connect the

electricity.

Results and Discussion

The innovation is made out of recycled materials, the thing that will help

you to cook. It will fasten the cooking process because it is connected in

electricity. The blower will serve as a source of air through the long tube built

on it that can help in producing fire in a charcoal in a fastest way. Every

materials used have their own importance. First, the charger is needed for the

fan blades to work. Next, the circle along the slipper serves as a cover between

the both sides of the PVC pipe and the tube will serves as the pathway in

producing air from the fan blade that is being rotated by the motor connected

in the charger.

Conclusions

Using of an alternative way of traditional burning of charcoal using clay

stove blower out of waste materials has a main purpose of how the people in

the society will use this Idea to live in a simple way of life without spending

money and only a few recycles will do. To sum it up, this innovation of the

traditional way of burning coals is a big help to everybody. It’s not just about

the people in rural areas but the people in urban areas too. Instead of doing

the traditional way wherein manual producing of air to burn up the coal, they

can use the clay stove blower that came out from different waste materials

where less time will be used in spending to burn coals. The excess time that
should be done using the traditional way of burning coal can be used in doing

some things.

Recommendations

The following are the recommendations for the enhancement of the

project:

1. Instead of using adaptor’s charger, use batteries to lessen electricity.

2. Use bigger but shorter tube for the wind to enter quickly into the clay stove

and easily light up the charcoal.

3. Future innovators may wrap the tube using a rubber to avoid your skin to

burn
