Biometric Panic Button for Enhanced Security

This document summarizes an existing panic button system and proposes a new biometric panic button system. The existing system allows users to send distress signals via a mobile app but has limitations like requiring access to a device. The proposed system uses a biometric sensor connected to a GSM module, allowing users to activate an emergency signal with one click without needing WiFi. It will also include an app to pinpoint the user's location. The document reviews related literature on fingerprint matching technologies and systems. It discusses energy-based and singularity point-based matching approaches as well as using adjacent orientation vectors for fingerprint matching.

Abstract

The project on ‘ BIO-METRIC PANIC BUTTION’ takes into consideration that the security is
maintained and faster help is accumulated using the application. Fingerprints are now used
widely for identification and verification purpose.
Misusing the security devices make a lot of trouble for the police department by faking
the emergency by using this bio-matric sensor device we can stop misusing the device and also
with the app developed we can exactly find the location of the panic place.
They are used for panic button purpose in house to avoid proxy for criminal identification
like terrorist, murderer and violators. A fingerprint recognition system can be used for both
verification and identification. In verification, the system compares an input fingerprint to the
“enrolled” fingerprint of a specific user to determine if they are from the same finger In
identification, the system compares an input fingerprint with the prints of all enrolled users in
the database to determine if the person is already known under a duplicate or false identity (1:N
match).
The proposed system consist of bio-matric sensor which enables more security by one
click your request is reported in nearby police station .The system works with GSM module so
the user not needed any kind of Wi-Fi to transfer the [Link] application developed had a
feature which gives the pin location of the place of panic .

1.2.1 Existing system

Red Panic Button

You can get the Red Panic Button from the Google Play store and the AppStore and also install
the Home Screen widgets for faster access to the app and its features. With its user -friendly
interface and intuitive functionality, the Red Panic Button can make a real difference when
you need it the most.
In critical situations, in which every second counts, one simple button push means
information, ultimately ensuring that you receive the help you need. A true lifeline which can
be easily worn everywhere you go, once you installed it on your device.

Personal Security
Whether you find yourself in an unfamiliar part of the city or have to cross the neighborhood
at night, there are plenty of risky situations you need to be prepared for. Keep your Red Panic
Button app close and use the widget to immediately send a distress message to your love d
ones so they can find you and ensure your safety. The Red Panic Button is a simple and efficient
solution for people who fall the victims of domestic abuse and violence, as their
acquaintances, other family members or friends can take the proper measures for their safety.

Medical Emergencies
You might be alone someday and start feeling very ill, incapable of calling an ambulance or
reaching the nearest hospital. The application can save your life in case of an accident, internal
hemorrhage or other health issue: just push the red button and let your family members or
your friends know where you are and that you need immediate care. In case your medical
emergency doesn’t allow you to speak to an ambulance operator, you can use the widget to
take a picture or record a short video and send it as further details of your location and medical
problem.

Your Loved Ones’ Security

Children get sometimes lost or distracted and only parents know how it feels to not know
where the little one is, why he is late or why he missed school. But skipping a class is not the
worst thing that can happen to a child and the Red Panic Button can get him out of countless
troubles: accidents, wrong bus rides, wrong crowds to hang with and so on. The parents of
teenage girls found the application particularly useful as they can find out immediately if their
daughters need help when going out with friends for instance.

The Elders’ and the Disabled Security

The elder population people with disabilities have indeed problems with mobility and reaching
their destination in a safely manner. Due to the technological rise of our times, their phones
can be enhanced not only with text- to-speech, haptic feedback, and trackball/d-pad
navigation, but with the Red Panic Button as well – a tool that gives them independence and
security. The Red Panic button application allows the elders and the disabled move freely, as
it counters the feelings of vulnerability in urban settings.

The Transporters’ Security

The Red Panic Button gained a lot of popularity on an international level within the
transporters’ community – and especially among taxi drivers and truckers. The application
prevents or discourages possible assaults and facilitates a faster and more efficient response.
The GPS coordinates and the app’s features enables family members, friends and authorities
intervene faster and more efficiently and find the driver’s location in real time as the driver
gives the alarm, either when stationary or on the move.

The Professionals’ Security

Professional security cannot be overlooked. Besides the security measures provided by one
institution or another, people who do highly risking jobs need supplementary protection. This
means that security agents in private companies, police officers, firemen, agents and building
guards can benefit from the Red Panic Button whenever they are engaged in conflict &
emergencies prevention or intervention. Construction workers, builders, miners and many
others can also use the Red Panic Button to signal a distress situation and get help as well.

1.2.2 Disadvantages of Existing System

1. Application oriented solution is not perfect as it takes time to open the phone or any
device.
2. There may be situation where users cannot access or operate phone or any device.
3. There may be a case of misleading people using these applications as security is less.

2. Literature survey
LITERATURE SURVEY :

1. TITLE: An energy-based fingerprint matching system

AUTHOR: K A. Nagaty
DESCRIPTION:
In this paper, we present a new energy-based fingerprint matching system which uses both
minutiae information available in a fingerprint with the information of the local ridges in their
vicinity. The basic idea of this system is to divide the fingerprint matching problem into several
small sub-problems that involve the use of image energy minimization for which an iterative
schema is devised. At each minimization step this schema optimizes its local energy according
to the previous estimate and the observed image features. Energy vectors are produced which
represent the fingerprint image. Our system was tested on NIST 4 fingerprints and showed
promising results.

2. TITLE: A Novel Embedded Fingerprints Authentication SystemBased on Singularity Points

AUTHOR: C. Militello, V. Conti
DESCRIPTION:
In this paper a novel embedded fingerprints authentication system based on core and delta
singularity points detection is proposed. Typical fingerprint recognition systems use core and
delta singularity points for classification tasks. On the other hand, the available optical and
photoelectric sensors give high quality fingerprint images with well defined core and delta
points, if they are present. In the proposed system, fingerprint matching is based on singularity
points position, orientation, and relative distance detection. As result, fingerprint matching
involves the comparison between few features leading to a very fast system with recognition
rates comparable to the standard minutiae based recognition systems. The whole system has
been prototyped on the Celoxica RC203E board, equipped with a Xilinx VirtexII FPGA. The
prototype has been tested with the FVC databases. Hardware system performance show high
recognition rates and low execution time: FAR=1.2% and FRR=2.6%, while each fingerprint
elaboration requires 34.82 ms. Considering both FAR, FRR indexes and the high speed, the
proposed system could be used for identification tasks in large fingerprint databases. To the
best of our knowledge, this is the first authentication system based on singularity points.

3. TITLE: Adjacent orientation vector based fingerprint minutiae matching system

AUTHOR: X. Tang

DESCRIPTION:
Minutia matching is the most popular approach to fingerprint recognition. We analyzed a novel
fingerprint feature named adjacent orientation vector, or AOV, for fingerprint matching. In the
first stage, AOV is used to find possible minutiae pairs. Then one minutiae set is rotated and
translated. This is followed by a preliminary matching to ensure reliability as well as a fine
matching to overcome possible distortion. Such method has been deployed to a payroll and
security access information system and its workability is encouraging. The information system
aims to offer a highly secured and automated identification system for payroll tracking as well
as authorized access to working areas.
