INSTRUMENTS USED FOR PRIMIPARA

WOMEN:

1. 1 Mayo scissors – use to cut the perineum during *episiotomy; use to cut
suture
2. 2 Kelly clamp (straight) – use to clamp the cord towards the placenta
3. 1 Cord clamp - use to clamp the cord towards the baby
4. Sterile gauze soaked in iodine solution – use to wipe the perineum and
to prevent infection in the area of episiotomy
5. Pair of gloves – (sterile) will be used by the physician in delivering the
baby
6. Mayo table – where all instruments are placed
7. Drape – use to cover the body of patient and exposed only the area of
operation (perineum)
8. Sterile towel – use to the catch the baby
9. 1 Metzenbaum – use to cut suture during **episiorraphy
10. 1 Blade – use to cut the umbilical cord
11. 1 Bowl – it is where to put the placenta

Additional

12. 10 cc syringe with Lidocaine – (local anesthesia) used in the perineum


13. 1 Needle holder – use to hold the needle
[Link] (‘stitches’) - used to hold body tissues together after episiorraphy
15. 1 Tissue forceps – use to hold tissues together when stitching
16.1 Placental curette – use to remove placental fragments by gently scraping
the lining of the uterus
17. 1 pack napkin – use as a sponge

INSTRUMENTS USED FOR MULTIPAROUS
WOMEN:
1. 1 Placenta bowl - it is where to put the placenta

2. 1 Kelly clamp (straight) – use to clamp the cord towards the placenta

3. 1 Cord clamp - use to clamp the cord towards the baby

4. Sterile gauze soaked in iodine solution – use to wipe the perineum

5. Pair of gloves – (sterile) will be used by the physician in delivering the
