1/22/2018 LINA Depreciation Wrong Calculation
Acqusition Cost: 12,329
Useful life : 5 years
Monthly depreciation was 205.48 till Dec 2012 but it has started calculating 173.65 from Jan 2013.
and also increased the life to Feb and March as based on useful life the asset should have been depreciation
completely by Jan.
LINA calculated differently and increased the useful life i checked AFAMA and it is normal nothing about
change over.
Thanks
Kumar

Hi Kumar,
Please check if you have subsequent acquisitions made on this asset.
As per standard, in LINA, the remaining life indicator is not set and as a result the system
increases the useful life when you post a subsequent acquisition.

Hi Kumar
You are dep. key LINA If you check base method is 0009
Ordinary: percentage from life (curb),
The planned useful life of an asset is 5 years. The asset is
depreciated beyond the 5th year. The indicator is set, with the
following results:
Up to an including the 5th year, the depreciation
percentage rate is 1/5 (20%).
In year 6, the depreciation percentage rate is 1/6.
In year 7, the depreciation percentage rate is 1/7, and so
on.
Dep. upto 5th year 12329/5/12 =205.48
Dep in 6th year 12329/6/12 = 171.23

Deepak

Hi Deepak,
That was very helpful... but as the cap date and dep start date is the same 11.02.2008 and
5 years useful life which means upto Jan 2013 and then it starts the 6 year.
But in Jan 2013 itself the depreciation as been calculated as 6 year way
12329/6/12=171.23
Why is that.
Regards,
Kumar

Hi
If you want dep to end in jan 2013, then you should have use dep
key with BASE method as 0011
In your case, you might be seeing dep even after NBV of 0
because of CURB in base method
